I got my i5 6600K in the mail today. I'm in the process of building a new computer. This would be a huge upgrade since I'm coming from a Q6600. In June I plan on getting a GTX 1060 to replace my GTX 560 TI.

Yeah, you should notice that upgrade. Congrats. I still have a Q6600 around here somewhere.

I hope so. I plan on overclocking it for better single thread capability since I play FSX. I plan on installing Lockheed Martin's Prepar3D which I hear takes advantage of multiple threads.

I still have an e6600. I need to build a new machine. Mine has some bulging caps and doesn't always boot nicely. I need to get internet first. Bought a modem, but the thought of dealing with comcast has left me just using my phone, and computer at work. I'll get to it some time I guess.

Nice! The good thing about that i5 is it's much easier to keep cool than the Skylake and Kaby Lake i7s.

This is the beast I want to get. I flew the same model 737 in FS2004, but the PMDG 737 NGX for FSX and Prepar3D is a lot better. Currently reading a 200+ page manual on it.

I lost all patience in flight simulators after they stopped including make your own plane editors. I think the last complicated one I played was Falcon 4.0, best manual ever.

Holy shit dude you're in for a treat. I went from a Q6600 G0 at 3.6 (still in my LAN machine) to a 4670k at 4.7 and its ridiculous. A lot of the impact was moving from 7200rpm to my first SSD too though :)

Lol nice. I still have a Q6700 running but it's just because I'm too lazy to migrate one last thing off it. It was my main server before I virtualized anything. Right now the only thing left to migrate is email but it's still chugging along and there's lot of specialized scripts and stuff so it will be a bit tricky to migrate and when I started then I got side tracked with other stuff and never went back. It's running Fedora Core 9 and has 1034 days of uptime lol.

The thing with this box is that it runs super cool though. I've seen the cpu hit like 12C.

How ironic. I on the other hand am still limping on an old i5 2500 that I hope to replace with an i5 6600k, but otherwise installed the very card you seek in my own system a few months ago; The 1060 GTX.

It occurs to me that we should fuse the best parts of our components together to create a superior singular being of processing power. :)

You will love it. I made the exact same upgrade just over a year ago.

You will get a boner when you fire it up.

The mobo I want to get has a BIOS issue that run the CPU hot so I need to immediately update the BIOS as soon as I get it if it isn't already. But I think a lot of this is for Kaby Lake.
