I'm so happy!

I once upon a time tried both FireFox and Opera, and like neither. I was bored at work today, so I download both again, and once again tried them.

I've now fallen in love with Opera. I love the overall look of it, and it seems to load pages faster than both IE and Firefox. I also like the tabbed browsing more than Firefox's.

Today is a great day.

There are extensions for Firefox to speed up it's page rendering and make the tabbed browsing more like Opera. I used to love Opera myself, but it became bloated, tedious to update (resetting bars and icons), and they never fixed long-standing issues. Firefox comes setup almost exactly the way I want it, and with a couple easy to install extensions it became what Opera use to be for me. You could rub it in how well Opera handles recovery from crashes though. 😉

Heh, yep whenever Opera crashes (thank you CNet) in a few seconds I'm back to exactly where I was 🙂

Only thing I don't like is how it occasionally can't render pages properly... not neccessarily Opera's fault though, but still it sucks.

For one, it's not huge. For two, it's an opera banner, not an ad. For three, it's still better than firefox or IE. Don't want to pay for it? Fine, you still get the browser, just a little ad in the corner that says you can help support a company that is trying to make browsing better. You don't have to be rude about it.

Really now, how was I rude?

First of all, it IS an ad banner, in fact the first thing Opera does when you install it is ask you what kind of ADS you want to be served. That's enough to turn away 90% of users right from the start. I don't know what you're trying to get at by calling it an "Opera" banner. 😕

Second of all, no one has to pay for IE, or Mozilla, or Firefox, or Maxthon, or Avast, or deal with banner ads in any of those, and they all still seem to put out an equal or superior product. What then gives with Opera?

I mean, without spending several minutes going through and turning off all the panels, the interface hogs almost as much screen space as MSN Explorer. Personally, I like viewing web pages with my browser, and the only buttons I need for navigation are right here on my mouse and keyboard.
