You probably need to tweak the optimization and update scheduling within WMC.
With recording location and other things configured, I've made several recordings with it in Win 10.
Biggest problem with all of this is the knitting together of your hardware with the ability to play what's recorded on it. Sooner or later, the basic guts of my 2600K system will be replaced by a Skylake, and I'll lose the ability to replay recorded encrypted channels. Of course, the OTA and unencrypted cable channels should still be good for replay on the replacement system.
Got fed up with the whole thing. MediaPortal is an open source train wreck for my simple needs and the WMC/WX hack is broken - at least for me. I tried it a dozen times. It started out looking promising then after trying to get the TV Guide to work properly it just broke somewhere......dunno, don't care
Fresh install of W7 and I'm back to TV again! For a couple more years anyway lol
I have Windows 8.1 strictly for WMC, but to play games, I dual boot to Windows 10 - best of both worlds and seems to work just fine. My HTPC is in my living room and acts as my DVR (HDHOMERUN prime w/ Comcast), but also as my VR computer.
