So it's time to format and hope that solves some of these damn blue screen "memory dumps" i'm having in winxp while playing games.

If that doesn't work, then i't's back to win2k.

Hope all goes well....

It sounds like you have the same problem I'm having. I keep getting memory dumps every time I do anything. i am going to reformat and hope that helps.

Ah crap guys help me out! I fdisked and formated and now I can't install it. I remember I had this problem last time I installed 2000 but not sure what I did. I tried booting from a disk then doing F:\setup but it says "this can't be run in dos mode". I also tried booting from cd, but it doesn't boot from the cd.

Oh and the games that wouldn't run was gothic, ghost recon, empire earth, myth 3, etc. But games that did run was UT, Wolfenstein, Aliens vs Predator 2, etc.

Considering D is where the WinXP CD is for instance...

D:\i386\winnt

Just go to the i386 directory and type in "winnt" hit enter.. and you're off

What video card and DirectX version do you have? I found out that most of my problems where because DirectX8.1 doesn't get along with the Gladiac 920 drivers, I downloaded the latest detonator drivers and no problems so far.

thanks for the replies, I think I figured out the problem

In FDisk it is now showing my slave drive as C: so I think I need to assign my primary drive a new letter? All i've done so far is fdisked my Primary drive and format C:, and now it's showing my Slave drive as C: 😕

Damnit, 60 gigs down the toilet, this royally pisses me off.

Argh, I fdisked my C:, forget to create the new partition so it read my slave as the C:, so then when I did format:C if formated my slave drive.

Heh, anyway to unformat a drive that I didn't fdisk.

I've said it before many times, and I'll say it again:

When formating a disk, physically remove ALL other disks from your system!!!

I love wallhacking in CS with my punch card computer 😀

Well I finally got XP installed. But that's all I have now, XP. I have nothing else, it's all gone.

I feel naked.
