I'm trying to make a rap mix of songs i havent heard a million times, so if people can suggest some good non-overplayed rap songs

Sugar Hill Gang - Rapper's Delight
Kurtis Blow - The Breaks
Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five - The Message
 
Orishas is a cuban-rap band - they rap in spanish, and although I don't understand it, it flows really well and they use real instruments (real bass, drums, horns, etc.)

East LA Sabor Factory, some old Nas stuff, Eminem freestyles, you can find this stuff if you look around
 
Get the real isht... The raw, underground hip-hop. Almost anything from the Living Legends, Project Blowed, Rhymesayers, Def Jux, Anticon, Hieroglyphics will satisfy your needs.

Damn you! I was just listening to Blackalicious and came to post that! 😀 I'm listening to 4000 miles right now...love the flows on this track, plus Chali 2na is the man 😎
 
I've only heard one blackalicious song, but that was pretty good - also consider the beastie boys, that is excellence in rap right there. I don't think "Po Folks" by Nappy Roots got that much playtime, so consider that too.

Doubt those got any airplay at all.
 
New T-Rock just came out. Lil Flip has been out a few mixtapes in the bast few weeks. B Gizzile has the 2 bootlegs + his new cd dropped last nite. Lots of people are listening to Lil Wyte... and the new Choppa is hot.

Actually there are just 20 rap songs, they just change the tempo to make it seem like there are more
