I'm seriously thinking about selling my PC

I have a laptop that I don't use very much as it is, but I do have reason to keep it because I'm always away from home. It may be worth a good $900, but I'm keeping it (A64 2800, etc.)

My desktop PC, on the other hand... I'm never home. It sits here, idle, most of the day. Doing nothing. I don't play games anymore. I just nef, work on projects, and check my email.

It's a:
A64 3700+
2gb RAM
A8N-SLI Deluxe
~1300gb combined HDD space (various makes/models, various sizes, SATA and PATA)
GeForce 7800GT 256mb
Antec 450w TruePower II

I have some numbers floating around in the back of my head... But I'm not sure that I want to give up my baby. Please help me, ATOT. And beyond that, if I did get rid of it, I don't know if I'd want to sell it as individual components, or as a unit.

Looks like you are definitely trolling for offers HERE, in OT. That is totally against policy. If you want to sell, it, then post it in FS/T, damnit! But keep it out of here.

And before you start making assumptions about what's on those 1300gb and making ridiculous offers so you can get it, be aware that all the drives will be thoroughly DBAN'd.

that's a nice rig EyeM, i take it you don't have time to game very much, with you being away from home a good amount of time. I say sell that bad boy and get yourself something nice.

Because I don't have time to play games. And what would I get out of this server arrangement, other than a fvcking headache due to bandwidth constraints.

ftp server then, only bring it up when you're not using the bandwidth.

If it's at home and you never are then sell it. I have my desktop with me at school, and I also don't find the time to game all THAT much during the school months but when I can and want to, it's great to be able to. Plus I use it for a number of other things that a laptop could not do, like 5.1 sound. But in your case I'd say ditch it.

$100-----CASH!!!!!

Anyone know people like that? They make a rediculous offer, and then end it with CASH!!! Like cash is supposed to make a difference

My USB 5.1 audio adapter would like to argue with you on that 😛

I'll miss the triple monitor setup, though.

If I sell locally, I'll throw in the triplets, which are worth a cool $150 each.

Ahh good point! However, with the movie watching and gaming I do, if I used a laptop primarily I'd definitely want a docking station and monitor/keyboard/mouse. And the desktop just offers the ease of upgradability. So really it's just the game thing. If you never do and if it's not even WITH you I think it's a no-brainer.

Use it as remote file storage, so go the ftp route. Honestly, buying used hardware is so cliche seeing as prices drop so quickly on new hardware. You spent all that money to build it, just try to find a use for it.

Imagine my situation, I have both rigs in my sig and a laptop...I really only use the AMD rig, however I am trying to set up some music streaming with the linux box for some use.

I know, sell your desktop.... sell your laptop... and buy MY laptop 😀 it would do everything you currently do and still play games if you occasionally feel like it

haha ok ok jk 😉

That's what I do, on a smaller scale.
Laptop has 60GB, System has 120GB (I need like another 300GB drive)!
