I'm sending an application to USC...but what are they good for?

And I would try for UCLA, except:
a.) I'm not a resident.
b.) Deadline was November/December

what ways can you find out what a school is like? i'm looking into ASU, and it looks really nice campus wise, but how can you find out about academics? i know us news does something, but i'm not a premium member so i can't see ASU. Is there websites where the students themselves review the college? i've googled but have yet to find much

it's kind of weird. compton on the outside didn't look as run down or intimidating as ... say, parts of washington heights or east harlem ... just a bunch of modestly sized homes with little lawns and metal bars on the windows....

Compton is not a walk away, ur in south central if ur in USC, you will be walking a long way to compton.

Ranked ahead of every other school mentioned in this thread I believe... including UCLA and UT Austin

Before listening to the predictable calls of ignorance for trusting any kind of public ranking, I thinK a US News ranking holds a little more validity than a thread full of college students who attend rival schools that delight in denigrating another college in order to feel better about their education 🙂

See what factors the rankings are based on, and how much weight US News gave to each in its overall ranking for each school.

Not to say that USC is not a good school, i went there...but most of that 30k is payign for the prestige of saying you graduated from USC.

yeah - UCB, UCLA, UCSD are all pretty much on the same level as USC (+/-), and are much much cheaper. USC isnt really a special enough school to warrent the extra money over the UC schools. but, OTOH it might be a tad easier to get in

If you aren't rich and you have to pay for it then I wouldn't attend. I think the only good thing about them is their graduate schools. Pharmacy and dental are pretty good. Go to some other four year university and go to usc for their graduate schooling.

I personally go to UCLA, my grampa was VP of USC...

If I had to make the choice again, I might go to USC.. but both are excellent schools... I donno.

USC is a very good school (top 30 or so) academically. Also, being in LA is a VERY good thing.

UCLA is a weeee bit too crowded for me... 😀 I would've gone to USC but the sight of porsches and bimmers when i park my POS car would make me a wee bit depressed too... 🙂

I attended my cousin's graduation there... and there was a yellow F355 waiting for some lucky fvcker that just graduated too... siiiiiggghhh...

you guys crack me up, you guys make it seem only rich people can go to USC, geez walk around the parking lot there you will see as many nice cars and as many POS cars as you would anywhere else
