Was busy at work today, approached a workstation, went to sit down,as I did somebody up the hall called out to me,I turned by twistung a bit at the waist,as I sat down, the minute I sat in the chair the hydralics went on it,slamming me hard about 4 ft into the floor..carpet over concrete

went to get up..legs wouldn't move..

spent the day in the ER,my back is toast now..

oh and before anybody makes wiseazz comments, come to find out though the chairs were leather and looked expensive, the manager had been informmed a couple weeks ago that the hydrolics on at least one chair were defective.

I hope they were polite at the ER and doped your ass into next week.

When we get new onset back pains like you in our ER we generally make them for lack of better term, high on meds.

Example being one young man hurt his back at work and got 30mg of Flexeril, 1mg of Dilaudid, 2 Norco(vicodin but with less tylenol) and 10mg of Valium. Hope they at least gave you some narcotics in the ER.

Hope you are doing better though!

On a side note, one of patients today was a heroin addict("former") with back pain. He had 750mcg of fentanyl, 750mcg of sufentanil, 10 mg dilaudid, 15 mg morphine, 200mcg of ketamine before he calmed down.

I once was jumping on a trampoline, bounced REALLY high, and landed straight down on my head. I felt my neck vertabrea separate and then pop back into place. My friends thought I had killed myself.

Sounds kind of like something that happened to me. My friends all watched pro wrestling and one thought it'd be fun to just do some move to me out of the blue. Unfortunately for me, he screwed it up on a hill, so my head smashed into the hill and went at a weird angle. I couldn't move my neck for at least an hour . To this day, I can't crack my neck or else I'll have to pop some pain pills for the oncoming migraines and neck pain. I wonder if the random security checks at work will yell at me for having pain pills in my work bag since I've never really seen anyone about it.

Geekbabe I would consider getting a lawyer just in case your problem becomes worse/debilitating.

Bad discs in my back as well. I take 2 oxycontins per day... just 10mg each though. <fights Zanejohnson off with a stick>

when my dad has his back get fucked up (he has had quite a few times in the past where his back got hurt), he was always given some kind of nice pain med, but he rarely touches them, he hates pain meds. If he asks for some pain meds or I see him grabbing something out of the cabinet (even something like tylenol or aspirin) I know he's in pain.
me, I'm the opposite, and have most likely built up quite a tolerance to most OTC pain meds because I get/got a lot of headaches.

OP: best of luck and hope your back heals up fast, and here's to hoping it's not something that will be a lengthy ordeal.

Really sorry to hear it. Hope you are able to recover properly.

On the plus side, that management tidbit could make you a very rich woman.
