I don't know how you feel, but I think I can relate. My father is getting to an age where his back is crapping out on him. Something about a bone deformation that doctors said they have a 50/50 chance to correct by surgery. Such pain watching him sometimes.

Did you have any tests done (MRI, CAT)?
Do you have any history of back ailments?
Are you using ice packs on it?

I'm rehabbing from lumbar surgery 5 weeks ago.
The surgical pain is grueling but my sciatic nerves haven't felt this good in 30 years.

I feel your pain.. literally.

Good luck. Back injuries are the worst, because (based on the nature of the injury) the effects can be with you for the rest of your life. My uncle was cutting some trees down on his property, fell off one about 6 feet up, landed square on his back on a tree stump. Fortunately his spine wasn't broken to the point of paralysis, but he did fracture some lumbar vertebrae, and he has back problems to this day (this was maybe 8 years ago). Shitty is the injury that never goes away...

went to get up..legs wouldn't move..

spent the day in the ER,my back is toast now..

oh and before anybody makes wiseazz comments, come to find out though the chairs were leather and looked expensive, the manager had been informmed a couple weeks ago that the hydrolics on at least one chair were defective.

I hope they were polite at the ER and doped your ass into next week.

When we get new onset back pains like you in our ER we generally make them for lack of better term, high on meds.

Example being one young man hurt his back at work and got 30mg of Flexeril, 1mg of Dilaudid, 2 Norco(vicodin but with less tylenol) and 10mg of Valium. Hope they at least gave you some narcotics in the ER.

Hope you are doing better though!

On a side note, one of patients today was a heroin addict("former") with back pain. He had 750mcg of fentanyl, 750mcg of sufentanil, 10 mg dilaudid, 15 mg morphine, 200mcg of ketamine before he calmed down.

On the bright side, you'll know you're well again when you get the sudden impulse of watching a commercial with an old dude, getting up out of your chair and going to a window, opening said window, and unashamedly shouting to the world "IT'S MY MONEY, AND I NEED IT NOW!!!" to which you'll here several of your neighbors start doing the same.

I am such a drug lightweight! I took the smallest flexeril, a 5mg, and it knocked me into next week:D
Geekbabe I hope something works for you like that. Next weeek looks mighty good from this week.

A friend of mine wears fentanyl dermal patches all day, everyday. These patches are primarily for cancer patients in excruciating pain. He has migraines that completely and utterly disable him and cause him to violently throw up. He has built up an insane tolerance to most pain medications, hence to fentanyl.

:(

When I hurt my back in Gymnastics I couldn't get anywhere near touching the floor. I was about a foot away from touching the floor. It destroyed my flexibility. Pre injury I was able to touch the floor palms flat without stretching.

Do you live in a place where there is prescription marijuana? Apparently it has good painkilling properties without all the upset stomach crap.

Roomates high back desk chair severely broke a few hours ago throwing him onto the hard floor. It was about 5 years old, and it snapped off where the metal chair frame attaches to the roller base on the bottom of the chair pad. Metal broke right off. Not even at a weld. Fortunately we had another chair of the same type that was a bit destroyed on the padding and not being used to replace the metal frame support with.

Made in China, of COURSE! :p
