Meeting time: 10am
Current time: 11:08am

"Hi, I'm runing a bit late, should be there in about a half hour. Hope you don't mind."

Ironwing's spoken answer "See you then."

Well, the spoken answer should be - Oh, then we better re-schedule this meeting to another day or time, because I am in another meeting now.

I would never wait for another person almost two hours beyond the scheduled time unless I was married to her. And she'd better make a sweet apology...

Bullshit

It takes 15-20 minutes to round up the gang, it takes 15-20 mins to drive to the distination, then it takes time to eat, then you have to wait for the waitress to bring the bill, then it takes 15-20 mins to drive back to the office ...

Hour is the minimum for lunch. People should really get 1.5 to 2 hours given that these days it seems like we are all working 10+ hour days and that's really the only major break in the day ...

I do two hours every day ^_^. But I'm changing teams soon, so will have to go back to one hour ... :(

Had a good run, did two hours for a year, came in 9.30, left at 5 every day.

Yeh they tell us required to work 7.5 hours a day but if you come in at 730 eat at your desk and leave at 4 or 430 then you get looked at weird. Everyone else comes in at 9 am or later and leaves later

i know a place with flex time or whatever they call it (for IT)...lots of people show up early, skip lunch, and are out by 2 or 3

they tried changing it, im told, but it didnt last very long.

Yeh I work in IT too they just recently brought in working from home too but its also up to your manager really. Others do that when they want but I only work from home once every other week. Then like you said some people in other departments still in IT, I see them sign off by 3 or 330. Would be convenient for me since it takes 45 to 1hr 20 depending on traffic to get home.

not getting out of the building for lunch is unhealthy and decreases productivity imho.
The lunch break of at least 1 hour should be the norm.
It's just enough to get out, get in a nearby self-service restaurant, eat and go take a leak.
If you don't want to eat in a hurry or want to eat in a restaurant or you have to take the car, it's not enough already.

Most places have cafeterias too. It's expensive where I work so I usually go somewhere else since there are plenty of food places. The worst is when everyone goes to the same shopping area its hell getting in, out and back to work lol

Isn't it obvious OP is some lowling and the person that's late is upper mgmgt? That's why he can do whatever the fvck he wants and OP couldn't say anything.

If OP was the upper mgmt, he wouldn't have just said, "See you then" with a tail between his legs, then post about it on internet.

spoken like a true pm :awe:

Bullshit.

It takes 1.3 minutes to walk to the office fridge and grab your lunch. 1.3 minutes to walk back to your desk. 2 minutes to each your sandwich. 3.6 minutes to eat the rest of the packed snacks. Total time for lunch: 8.2 minutes.

Wow that sucks man. I love 1 hour lunch breaks (the norm for my current job and last one, both software dev 8-5 jobs). I'd probably go nuts if I was stuck at my desk all day. I love being able to get outside and away from work for an hour each day.

I've never been much of a "lunch break" taker at any of my jobs so I'm used to it. It's not too bad, I usually just pack a couple protein bars and a jug of water so I don't have to worry about making food or getting my desk all messy.

It's not torture by the company or anything, if we have to leave we can, most of us just hang out and work though. And it's also nice if we need to head out early, no one really says anything since we work more hours than we should as it is.

It's just easier to work through lunch than come back to a bunch of anxious users freaking out because you weren't there for 15 minutes when they had an emergency.

Fuck that, I worked at a place where at least one person had to be there at 6am, and at least one person had to stay until 5pm. You could work at home or in the office and could work a set amount of hours a week. For me 40 was the max, others could go OT. We always just talked it out on who was gonna open/close and it always just worked.

I work 8 hours a day (not incl. lunch, obviously) and take as long or as short of a lunch break I want, subject to meetings.

<3 it.

30 minute lunches everyday...except for those 2 hour lunch days.

I take about a 20 minute lunch on Fridays, unless something important comes up and I need to stay in the office. Otherwise I just eat at my desk, but I figure it all works out about the same due to all of the neffing I do online.

it's not neffing, it's multitasking training.

Neffing is just ATOT slang for networking.

If I'm busy, no food break at work, 10-12 hr shifts. Usually find a way to sneak in something.
