I'm resigning from my big-corporate job on Friday.

You know...just because you're abandoning corporate life, that doesn't mean you will get your soul back...once you give it away, it's gone forever.

Not true, quit the corporate suck 15 years ago and my soul is intact....less money and more happy!

When my parents had their cafe in Stone Harbor I had the chance a guy who worked for wall street. He left and opened a pizza shop down the street. He told me that he couldn't take the stress anymore, and that the money wasn't that important.

I guess you get to a point in your life when you think to yourself if the money is worth it or not. Then you start realizing that life is short. The saying gets thrown around quite a lot but it's true.

Best of luck at the new job and I hope it all goes well. It doesn't sound like you will, but even though they treat you like crap don't burn bridges on the way out.

its too late for me. i got addicted to the more money, and am trying to find a way out, but i dont see one happening for another 15 years or so

You would be suprised how quickly you can adapt. I left a 130K job in 1996 and lived on 65K for the next 4 years just fine. Started my own company and now ( 15 years down the road) net just as much. Quality of life is better, kids and wife are happier. You can do it.

My last day at my current employer is Friday the 5th. First day at the new one is Monday the 8th. Here we go! 🙂

Sorry, won't do that, but it is the leader in its industry and a Fortune 250 company.

I'll give you another example of the good side of my company. A couple years ago, the president actually sent out an email requesting employees to turn off their company cellphones and log off their computers over the weekends. Business could wait until Monday.

Since you won't name this fictitious company, what do you do at this fictitious company? 😛
