I find that exercising and chugging lots and lots of water helps me out. When I want to smoke, I get down and bang out 30 pushups or something and then chug a bunch of water. In very desperate times, I simply went to bed or took a nap. Sometimes sleeping away 5-6 hours of time is the best way to hide from the evil craving monster.

i never really started but i'm definitely smoking a lot more now that packs here are $3...such a nice relief between class. ahhhh ^_^

Stop now. Seriously. Don't let yourself become a nic fiend. It isn't fun. Biggest mistake I've ever made, and I've made some doozies.

As for my first day, it has gone pretty good. I had to stop and make myself concentrate some this afternoon, but that was just because I was really, really bored. Staying busy helps me more than anything!

ive been able to quit for months at a time before. i never finished the pack tho, knowing they were just s trip to the fridge away kept me from smoking them. after 4 months of not having a smoke (the last time i quit) my ex wife tossed the pack that i had in the fridge and i ended up freaking out and going to get a pack to replace it. smoked half the pack before i even realized it lol. the time i quit before that was for 8 months, same way. ex wife didnt quit either time with me tho, and that 8 month one was gone after a night out with her and her friends, all of whom smoke like chimneys. she and all her friends are all out of my life, i dont smoke around my kids but i cant seem to break smoking at work. that is my next challenge.


think ill go smoke now.

24 hours down! When I wake up tomorrow, it will be the longest I've been without tobacco in eight years! I'm kind of excited about tonight too. I had some really messed up dreams last night, and I want to see if the patch is what caused it. I hope so, cause I rarely remember my dreams, and they are usually quite entertaining. Or disturbing. Usually both.

Almost 48 hours now! Today wasn't bad at all. I never really wanted a cigarette all day. However, I'm coming to realize that the me without tobacco is a much more hot tempered me. The patch is going good. I like it much better than the lozenge, just put it on and forget about it. I've had a pretty crappy couple of weeks, so I think if i can get through all this without smoking, I will be able to stand just about anything!

I was on it for 3 months then I decided to go cold turkey. Was way easier then the times I tried cold turkey from the start.

Congrats. Keep going. The patch can cause CRAZY dreams, BTW.

I think you'll find that the really hard part begins now. The first 48 hours, like you describe, are a bit of a rush as you run around going "i'm a badass nonsmoker? I'm gonna be soooo healthy! HEAR ME ROAR"

This will fade away and you'll eventually just sorta plod forward with that nagging voice on occasion. This is where people buckle.

And then, you get to the point where you have to detach from the patch. This will be tough too. BUt you seem to have the right mindset, so keep going bro.

One day at a time is all can do. I think I'm learning how to shut up that little voice. Packs of Big Red and Doublemint are learning to fear me! I hate chewing gum, but it really seems to kill my cravings.

I find exercise helpful for overcoming the anxiety of quitting. If you're going to have pain, might as well gain something from it(sense of accomplishment from exercising and the endorphins you get from it).
