I'm quite impressed with music format conversion software

I've always held the stance to, no matter what, never convert WMA to mp3, for fear of drastic results. Well, I've finally given it a try with DBPowerAMP, and I have to say, I am more than impressed. The quality is completely acceptable, and to the average ear, near indistinguishable from the original WMA. Now I just may convert my 100+ WMA albums to mp3.

Why not just rerip the WMA albums as MP3? Its better to go to MP3 from the source material (44.1 KHz 16 bit PCM in this case, aka, CD Audio) than already compressed stuff.

I buy music CDs, rip them to lossless FLAC for my music server, then transcode to 192 kbps MP3 for my portable.

I do listen to 160 kbps WMA from the Napster service, but that's just for the equivalent of radio, for previewing, and for music I don't like enough to buy.

I hope you're doing lossy-to-lossy transcoding for a good reason, such as having an iPod or car CD that doesn't play WMA, otherwise it sounds like a really stupid idea.
