IS the mayo clinic a good source John? Even mainstream medicine admits there are symptoms from MSG.

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/monosodium-glutamate/AN01251

nobody is claiming MSG doesn't cause reactions in some people.

You are the one who posted a terrible website that was chock full of complete bullshit.

If you leave it at "MSG can cause headaches in some people", all parties involved in this conversation will politely agree and move on.
But that website you listed should simply be ignored as it contains a great amount of misinformation.

That website basically states everything glutamate is evil. Everyone can consume glutamic acid and most of its salts. monosodium glutamate is just one glutamic acid salt. There are many more, including monopotassium glutamate, which has absolutely no chemical link to MSG other than containing glutamic acid, and absolutely no medical link that relates MPG to headaches, or any other health concern for that matter.
Also for MSG, there is basically no medical link to anything other than headaches in some individuals. That's it, headaches. It doesn't cause long term damage, can't kill, it's simply causes headaches for some people.
There are many, many versions of glutamic acid in foods. It is an amino acid, and while a product that has ingredients that may indicate the presence of glutamate in some form, in many cases this won't be MSG.

How did this thread turn from Cigs to MSG? Unless the OP is chugging down MSG with Cigs and Painkillers, I suspect MSG isn't the issue.

I don't care to look at the sites, but I reckon it's pretty typical propaganda against those consumables.

However, there is some truth to the complaints about certain artificial sweeteners and MSG.
For some people, those chemicals can be migraine triggers.
MSG, otoh, I'm not sure if it is a known migraine trigger, but it is most definitely subject to allergic reactions by many. A headache can be a symptom following MSG consumption, though it's an odd allergy because unlike most food allergies, I don't think their is much of an issue with repeated exposure = more serious reactions. At least, that is for the people I've known who are allergic to MSG, including my father (though he can and does consume things with MSG in them, so I think it's based on dosage).

I also agree there is a lot of match up for migraine symptoms, but it is still odd it is basically a daily occurrence. Even people with severe migraines don't get them daily.
Makes me wonder if the tobacco truly is the culprit as a migraine trigger. Having it in your system daily basically means you are constantly triggering it.

Kalmah,
On the days you don't have the migraine symptoms until late, did you not smoke until late?
Or do you smoke very frequently and missing a day of smoking just doesn't sound normal at all?

John,
one note of importance: here in the US, diklofenac is not OTC.

I did not know that, it is in the EU. I wonder why it's not in the US, it's basically impossible to OD on it and it has fewer side effects than some (aspirin or anything like it) and a LOT less side effects than other OTC products such as acetaminophen and paracetamol.

Is Anervan or Orstanorm OTC in the US? They did absolutely nothing for me but they work very well for some people.

Aye, the normal name for it is glutamine and it's sold in VERY high dosages as a supplement.

It had it's heyday in the mid 90's but it's fairly useless since your body will make as much as it needs if you are not ingesting enough and will just turn your urine bright yellow if you try to OD on it. ;)

Heh, yeah, you're right, it's a classic migraine.

I just had to comment on that clown site that dualsmp posted because it's stupid.
