ok guys well its taken me 6 months to save up and im finally ready. so here goes waht do you think?

DFI ultra-d and 3700 SD combo from monarch
Leadtek 6800gt
Nec 3540a
seagate 7200.8 250gb
msx518
logitec elite
audily(sp?) 2 zs
z5300e

i have 520w modstream, TT tsunami, and a patriot 2*512 2-3-2-5 ram

how does this look? and i want to thank everyone that helped fro the past few months thank you for all or time.

seems like you could save hundreds by getting a 3200 and OC'ing it to the 3700 speeds. Also you can save a bunch more cash with almost no performance hit by getting a gig of regular value 3200.

*edit*

i see you already bought that RAM...

dont want to start anything, but id disagree, the 6800GT (although a little more money) would be the better choice, IMHO (espacially since its almost a guarantee you can clock it to Ultra speeds)

 looks good, and nick1985, overclocking doesn't add another 512K of cache to the cpu😛

the extra 512kb cahce will do next to nothing in gaming, and wont justify spending $100+ in other applications (such as encoding, etc)

this is more a video editing then gaming machine but it will also see a fair share of gaming i got the 6800 becasue i kno i can OC and the the 3700 for great stock speed and oc abilty with the 1mb

i wouldn't bother with the audigy myself. the karojen is nice with almost no performance hit unless your an audiophile. save the $$ and get it later if you want.

like nick said, the 3000 or 3200 may be just as good although i like my 3700.

You're not gonna go for the 3800+ X2? Will do better for video editing..

im well aware, but the extra 512k doesnt really add very much in terms of performance, especially not enough to justify the price increase

I downgraded from a 1mb 3400+ to a 512kb 3000+ and I'm pretty sure the larger cache made a big difference, especialy in multitasking. I dont think the extra 400mhz is causing the extra slowdown, but I could be wrong.

Keep the SD & be happy 🙂

I really like your rig choices.

Very similar to how i would do it, though i too would get the X800XL. The 6800 GT is a bit better though, & not all that much more expensive though, so whatever.

One thing i would do is replace that NEC 3540 with the BenQ DW1640.
That newer NEC doesn't get the greatest reviews...& the BenQ does 🙂
BenQ also has native bitsetting support & overspeed burning.
No modified firmware flashing or BS like on the NEC.

I like it.

maybe reason he wants 6800gt is to he can oc to ultra speeds the x800xl doesnt oc as well.
