I love my new laptop. While the common folks have to use the computer's in the lab I get to relax in total comfort while I browse the net on my new lappy.

I will never go wireless completely. Sure having wireless as well as wired for the laptop would be fine if I had one. But all I just need is the new D-Link Gigabit gaming router so I can actually utilize my 5e cables. Oh and I'll need some new NIC cards too. I don't understand how 56 Mbps is fast enough for people when 100 Mbps wasn't even close to fast enough for me. Especially since with wireless G you actually never get 56 Mbps. Also the latency I spoke of would be completely unexceptable for CSS.
you are a dork...
no cable or DSL company in the US is offering 56 MBPS... so regardless if you have a gigabyte ethernet you arnt even using but up to your providers max speed.
I get 6 and thats premuim road runner
and that is super fast 0 ping WIRELESS DESKTOP to every server anywhere near my state..
if you have ping problems its not a wireless issue.. its a ISP or user or machine issue...

And yes, wireless routers will always give you a higher ping then wired. None of you wireless users have any clue what your talking about because you probably have no basis for comparisson. If your ping is 110 in CSS, it doesn't make that much of a difference then if you have a 70 ping unless you've ever had a 70 ping and your good enough at the game to know the difference.

It has to do with transferring files over a LAN, not with the broadband connection. I know most people don't need more then 56, but 100 Mbps is insanely slow when your copying something thats 4+ GB from your roommates computer all of the time. Gigabit would be much faster and something I want.

Its the same with people arguing over the great quality of LCDs. CRTs are still much better then the best LCD I've ever seen. I can also notice a slight, (very unnoticable to most people) difference when I have gamed with a wireless Mouse. I notice these things where most people can't. I just play better with my MX510 and a wired router, and my big bright CRT. Even if only a little.
And this being CAL season, and even though its early, the fact that my team is one of the top 5 in the country right now, I think I know what I'm talking about. Especially since we also participate in ALL AWP skrims, when your ping time - and the 2 ms difference it makes can mean life and death. You just don't understand how quick some AWPers out there are.
