I love my new laptop. While the common folks have to use the computer's in the lab I get to relax in total comfort while I browse the net on my new lappy.

😀

I'm going to be doing this in two weeks myself 🙂 My entire college campus is going to have wireless access. Finding a spot to plug in though will be the challenge, because there is only so much battery to a laptop.

so?
welcome to 3 years ago...

not like beign wireless is any kind of accomplishment these days...
even my 85 year old grandma as a wireless G network at her house =P

Unfortunately our dorms are wired and will probably never be wireless. I'll be bringing a wireless router so that I may enjoy my internet while in bed, the shower, the pooper, or anywhere else I feel like internetting.

I will never go wireless completely. Sure having wireless as well as wired for the laptop would be fine if I had one. But all I just need is the new D-Link Gigabit gaming router so I can actually utilize my 5e cables. Oh and I'll need some new NIC cards too. I don't understand how 56 Mbps is fast enough for people when 100 Mbps wasn't even close to fast enough for me. Especially since with wireless G you actually never get 56 Mbps. Also the latency I spoke of would be completely unexceptable for CSS.

No way, I can play on Cs:s server etc no prob.

Yea right, you probably just don't know that the lag is there. Ping will always be much higher on a wireless setup then wired. Its more noticeable for the people that are playing against you then it is for you.

False, I played WoW on wireless with a laptop that had IEG with a rather smooth framerate!

play CS:S from the can. people will be amazed when they hear the AWP coming from your stall.

When I move in two weeks, my dorm room will have wireless from the room because I live close to an access point so I can have two diff ip addresses on the school network. I don't think the wireless has a bandwidth camp so usenet leech there 😛. Using RD from class to play games on my desktop ought to be interesting as well.

Nope. My parents' house and my apartment at school were both wireless. About four of us could play CS:S online just fine.

you are a dork...
no cable or DSL company in the US is offering 56 MBPS... so regardless if you have a gigabyte ethernet you arnt even using but up to your providers max speed.

I get 6 and thats premuim road runner
and that is super fast 0 ping WIRELESS DESKTOP to every server anywhere near my state..

if you have ping problems its not a wireless issue.. its a ISP or user or machine issue...
