I had been holding out. wasn't going to do it, but finally the performance and the popups and lack of PM etc etc finally got to me and i broke down and paid for a 1 year subscription fee.

Yep, it was first announced by the man himself on 11/01/01.

At first I subscribed so the forums would load faster, now they both load quickly. I definitely like the 1,000 PM's I go through that in about 45 days then I export and start again from fresh.

Now I subscribe for the PMs, NO ANNOYING FSCKING TOP OR SIDE BANNERS (I've seen them on my wife's PC and they're hideous) and most importantly to support the AT forums. Bandwidth ain't cheap.

I am disappointed though, I've heard the much ballyhoo'd new features coming ... nothing since then (other than they were testing them out).

I would subscribe in an instant but I am still wary of the moderators itchy trigger finger.
