Sounds like a great idea, I've been wanting to do the same thing myself. I'm tired of staring at a computer screen, and being a cube monkey. Only problem is, I have no idea what to do. Not sure where to take my career at all.

for me, its the OFFSHORING of computer job to India that is hurting me.

Have a hard time finding my JOB as Cisco CCNA with 2 years of IT experience;
I saw the writing on the wall, and is now re-educating myself to become a Paralegal.

Love IT, but its getting tough to find IT jobs in America

Congrats!, and remember, your friends and family's computers are like dogs, once you touch them, they WILL follow you for the RESR OF YOUR LIFE. Trust me, you are not done working on computers. You NEVER will be.

Update: Today was like an initiation day, where I finally saw all the properties that will be my responsibilty (7 buildings), and met the supers who will work under me. To tell you the truth it was a bit overwhelming. But I'm pumped to breath fresh air during business hours! :)

Can I have your computer?

Umm..... NO! I am still using it, I just won't be using it as my source of livelihood anymore.

I wish you good luck. I came to the same conclusion 2 years ago. It has become a cut-throat business and I was just not that motivated to keep up with the pack.

LOL, no. I may still do some small graphics jobs in the evenings and if I ever have free time. But it's not my main source of income anymore.
