Well I got back on the 19th and im finally well enough to get up and do stuff. I got brochitis while I was there. Im on christmas leave right now. It wasnt very hard and actualkly pretty fun except for the cold. it was like 40 for 3 days and thats it and on those days it rained. We spent pretty much the whole time training with the M16 so we could get qaulified before christmas.

Heh.. Everybody gets sick in Basic.. Glad you're feeling better, though, and glad you're having fun for the most part. 🙂

pardon my ignorance, but what is the role of these?
Army Scout Rangers, think of them as the Elite of the Green Beret, not an easy feat. They operate in much a way that a Commando would, same as Force Recon for the Marines (but the Marines are better 😛)

correct. The rangers are the Army's elite fighting force, used for special operations and frontline offence. The green berets are special forces units which are specially trained and tasked to be inserted into enemy territory to train/equip resistance fighters, and fight the enemy from the inside out (sabotage, etc). A good example of this was their role in Vietnam training the Vietnamese civilians. Delta force can be termed as the elite Rangers. The movie Blackhawk Down does a very good job at protraying Rangers and Delta force pretty accurately.

Scout Rangers are selected within the ranks of Rangers, to be trained to do the things that you said. They're a step above the Rangers.

I'm a DS in the reserves. Learn your general orders, rank structure and as much as you can out of the smart book before you go. It will give you a big advantage. You can get a smart book from your recruiter or a local reserve unit. Good Luck at Benning!

yeah I already had a test on all the rank structure stuff and my general orders and marching and such. its not hard stuff to remember. Ive read that book all the way through even the boring parts most people wont touch. Im glad im getting better and better everyday. I might even be able to go running tomorrow.
