meh, i called in sick (had a migraine) last month and my boss was pissed at me..yesterday i went into work even though i felt horrible and was throwing my guts up and he told me to go home after being there about an hour or so. today i told him i was sorry for having to leave early and he said "thats fine, you couldn't help it you were sick, at least you made the effort to come in." you should have gone in and faked sick if you wanted a day off.

Personal health days are needed by all. You should try some, it may lighten your attitude. :)

Personal health days? Is that a way to make someone feel better for being lazy? I have to deal with people calling off "sick" when I know damn well they aren't sick (especially when they come in the next day relating to their coworkers what the did on their day off). I have called off sick 3 times in the past 5 years and any "personal health days" I schedule well enough in the future that my absence will not be a burden to someone else.

Personal health isn't planned. You don't think 3 months ahead and say, "well, gee, I bet I'm going to wake up wanting to kill myself on december 14th, 2003. I should really schedual that now so I don't make anybody mad".

Since you are such a model citizen and worker everyone should do what you do. Because we all know everyone's situation is just like yours right? Your attitude is taking a very self-righteous swing. You may want to come on back down to earth and realize everyone isn't as perfect as you.

I take personal health days on occasion. Largely for my employers benefit though. I'm just not very functional after working 50 hours in three days time and covering over 1500 miles of driving.

I've had to do this several times this year. Needless to say, on Thursday and Friday I'm pretty much spent.

I'm not perfect and never claimed to be. Hell, I hate my job with a passion, I do however, have a very strict work ethic. Feeling suicidal would constitute an emergency and the individual should probably seek counciling. That is not the case in this thread:

bleh..I just do not feel like going to work tonight, so I called in.

That's not suicidal or an emergency, that's just blatant laziness.

Everyone wakes up once in a while feeling like they really don't want to go to work.
I mean I never WANT to go to work, but some days I feel like crap and I feel so much hate for my workplace that I call in sick. It's not something I do often. I only do it when it's rather extreme. Sometimes it passes by the afternoon and I end up going and I tell them I'm feeling better.
Days like that, if I actually did go to work when I didn't want to, I'm sure I'd smack someone some time in the day and get fired.
It's obviously frowned upon, but sometimes you really need to take a break.

Understood. But, keeping my sanity is an emergency to me.
There is nothing wrong with being lazy. Mabey you should try it sometime.
Making sure you at work everyday like a good little prairie dog only makes someone else richer and happier.

I'm not allowed to get sick. The company I work for doesn't believe in sick days. :(
