I bought it, impulsively. And I returned it, pretending it didn't worked, and they accepted to refund me. Sincerely, EEIII has been only the second PC game I've returned since I bought my first PC game ever back in 1998 (Half-Life). Briefly said, I hated it that much.

They fooled me w/ EE2.... so I'm not entirely surprised EE3 sucks. EE1 was amazing though.

After I played the EE3 Alpha, I realized that the game was going to be pretty bad and stopped keeping tabs on it.

Honestly, I'd by EE1 again if all they did was do a graphical facelift and give it better support for different operating systems.

Empire Earth 2 wasnt bad, it was just very different from the 1st, but just as deep and fun if you could get into it. And that was the nice part. Rather than make an expansion pack for the first one and just call it a sequel, they made a whole new game with the spirit of the first. Thats an ideal sequel. I hate movie sequels that make so many call-backs to the original they dont even feel like a new movie. Next Friday is a perfect example of that.

A totally new game would have been fine for Empire Earth 3 as well, its just too bad it sucks ass.

I stayed away from EE3 after I read all the poor impressions people got from it. I had a feeling it was going to be bad when they turned it into a C&C style game with only 3 "civilizations" to choose from. That lack of options really turned me off. EE2 is a good game, albeit very Rise of Nations-like. That might be one reason I didn't have much trouble picking it up since the territory premise was somewhat familiar. It's got a different playing style to it where you're forced to expand which can lead to interesting matches. EE1 however was just amazing. I have to agree with Bateluer, I'd buy a prettied up rework of EE1 in a heartbeat. The endless choices you had for civ bonuses, the free-roaming nature, the relatively simple resource gathering/management just made for great gameplay. I loved walling myself off in a corner of the map trying to construct some impenetrable fort with inner and outer walls and towers everywhere, amassing a huge army and stuffing them in fortresses until they were needed just waiting to crush the opposition with wave after wave of forces. One thing I think would be a great addition to a revamped remake of EE1 would be the ability to choose from a group of special units every few epochs, so if you wanted to focus on infantry you could choose an infantry unit, or a siege weapon/mobile artillery unit if you wanted that. Just to add more customization to how you want to run your civ.

Give me EE with improved graphics and I'm happy.

No it stinks. I bought it too for 15 dollars. Thinking I get to build civilizations, conquer the world, expand in different tech...

But it turned out to be a watered down single player campaign with no strat map. What does making an Empire have to do about some weird "Cirlce" ?
