I'm looking to build a home theatre type pc

Hey guys, this pc would hook up to my tv and my receiver. Denon receiver. I would like to house movies and music. Mostly mucic though. I would like the case to be very small. I have tons of components already and don't want a huge case to go with it. Has anyone built a pc like this? Can you let me know exactly what you used? I don't want to pay a arm and a leg either. This will mostly be used for music. Thanks guys!!!

The obvious solution would be a Shuttle SFF case; try the SFF/Notebooks or Cases/Cooling forums if you want more specific recommendations.

This might be a dumb question but do these systems come with motherboards straight from the factory or are they just cases?

Just depends how much work you want to put in to it, and how small you want it as to what it'll cost. You could get a Asus A7N266-VM with MCP-D which includes the S/PDIF bracket for hooking to your Denton, and features Dolby Digital 5.1 encoding, mATX form factor for $59, add a AV/S Bracket with S-Video and composite TV output for the GF2MX IGP for $15 if you don't have a vid card with S-Video TV out, 1.6ghz Duron for $39, throw it in a Enlight mATX case/w PSU for $44 shipped and have the foundation of a nice HTPC for DVD playback and music for dirt cheap.

You could get a VIA EPIA M10000 (1 GHz C3 CPU - Nehemiah) 1DDR 1394 Mini-ITX that has everything but ram including MPEG2 Decoder and very good quality audio thanks to the VT1616 and either put it in the Enlight case or gut a old DVD or VHS player and mod it to house the system. Checkout http://www.mini-itx.com/ for some great ideas, HTH 🙂
