Buy the car you want and then pay a good 2-3 grand on a high quality repainting. Then you can get whatever form of yellow you like.

And then ruin your resale value...

I don't know about you but I'd rather have a well done recent paint job than to pay for a well used car that has fading chipping paint as most 7+ year old cars do, especially sitting out in the hot FL and GA sun.

Fully agree, but other buyers, dealerships, etc, consider a paint job as a big resale-killer since they hide a lot of signs of abuse.

You can repaint a house and ADD value to it. WTF people?! LOL

Miatas can be found relatively cheap. I haven't driven one myself, but from what I heard they're a blast. I'd be scared to death to get in an accident in one, though.

Mustangs are another option. A "New Edge" (1999 - 2004) V6 Mustang Convertible should be relatively cheap. Just be sure to check who the previous owner(s) were - they tend to get beat on by kids a lot (yes, even the V6s). You can find an older 1994 - 1998 Mustang even cheaper, but at that point, you might be looking at repairs and problems waiting to happen.

One more idea - type "yellow convertible" into Google's image search and see what comes up. If you like how it looks, research it.

Triumph Spitfire.

I think he wants to give her something she can drive, not push into the garage every weekend to work on it :p

Then put a Civic engine in it ;)

Yellow was a rare color and only used on a couple of model years, but well worth it.

Of all the cars you are looking at none are as cheap, easy to upgrade (suspension, etc) or as phenomenally fun to drive as the wee Mazda.

Seconded.
