i'm looking for a lcd monitor

and I would like to know what are the most important charateristics to be looking at and comparing. If you guys could help me out with a short list and a brief explanation on what each thing is exactly, I'd be very grateful.

also, i'd appreciate it if people could give me some brand suggestions, and some reasonable numbers for the above stuff.

i'm looking at either 17 or 19 inch for no more than 500.

Your going to want to look for a good response time if your a gamer, and you probably want a dvi input. Dell often has very good sales, so I would look at their monitors.

Accorfing to MaximumPC the Sharp LCD's are the best for gaming as they have little ghosting at non-native resolutions.

do a search for 'LCD' or 'gaming LCD' or 'best LCD' and you will get about a million hits here alone (ok, maybe not a million but quite a few). Read up on those and if you still have questions let us know. I doubt you will because the threads over the past month have pretty much beaten to death everything about the current and future crop of LCD monitors.

This is what I did and it helped me a ton in decided what LCD to get. Now I am very happy with my 2005 fpw.
