I've always been impressed w/stuff from smc. I know Linksys is popular but in my experience they haven't been very reliable.

In my limited experiences, smc has been majorly troublesome while linksys has been reliable and well known.

You might want to try the networking forum.

I've found the D-Link DI-624 to be a so-so router. It works flawlessly with my wireless laptop, but it seemed to drop connections to my wireless PCs. I didn't take the time to troubleshoot it, so the wireless PC problem could have very well have been "operator head space". :)

I like my Netgear MR814 pretty well, I have yet to have any problems with it and have had it going 24/7 for about 8 months.

I've used that Netgear, and it's great, except that it needed some tweaking to play nice with a Centrino-based wireless laptop (and even now it sometimes gets 'stuck' and has to be manually reset). But part of that was buggy drivers that came with the laptop, so I'm not entirely sure who's to blame here.

I would've used the Linksys (no problems with the wireless on that with the same computer), but it absolutely refused to talk to my girlfriend's cable modem. Apparently their router has issues negotiating DHCP leases with some older equipment. :disgust:

another vote for the Netgear MR814, I've had it for a while now without any problems.

Ya, you can get it at Zip Zoom Fly for $64.00 with a $20 Mail-In-Rebate and Free 2-Day UPS Air Shipping. Not bad at all!
