Good God!

Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go
A little high, little low
Anyway the wind blows, doesn't really matter to me, to me

Mama, just killed a man
Put a gun against his head
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead
Mama, life had just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away
Mama, ooo
Didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on, as if nothing really matters

Too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down my spine
Body's aching all the time
Goodbye everybody - I've got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth
Mama, ooo - (anyway the wind blows)
I don't want to die
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all

I see a little silhouetto of a man
Scaramouch, scaramouch will you do the fandango
Thunderbolt and lightning - very very frightening me
Gallileo, Gallileo,
Gallileo, Gallileo,
Gallileo Figaro - magnifico

But I'm just a poor boy and nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity
Easy come easy go - will you let me go
Bismillah! No - we will not let you go - let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go - let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go - let me go
Will not let you go - let me go (never)
Never let you go - let me go
Never let me go - ooo
No, no, no, no, no, no, no -
Oh mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me go
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me
for me
for me

So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye
So you think you can love me and leave me to die
Oh baby - can't do this to me baby
Just gotta get out - just gotta get right outta here

Ooh yeah, ooh yeah
Nothing really matters
Anyone can see
Nothing really matters - nothing really matters to me

Anyway the wind blows...

OK now maybe we can kill this thread off

If it wasn't for Queen (specifically Bohemian Rhapsody and a couple others that got top 40 play), Ted Nugent, the Who, BTO, Alice Cooper and a handful of others........the BeeGee's and Gloria Gaynor would have taken over the world in the 70's. We would all be jive talkin' and nothing else.

Bohemian Rhapsody saved the world........bow down and pay homage oh ye' of little faith.

One song did not change the course of music history. There was nothing in that song that was "special". So they started slow then got faster, so they put in some background singers that made you think it was some great blend of opera and rock. Eddie Van Halen was a good guitar player but he didn't change the world of rock because he can play classical pieces on a 6 string guitar. Thus is my point. One song can not change rock forever. One artist maybe. And your statement here illustrates my point as well. Remove queen from the list you still have Ted Nugent, the Who, BTO, Alice Cooper, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin and Sweet - the list goes on.

Heh......you said Sweet....(crosses self)

There was a lot of great rock at the time. But what made it to Top40 to counter the disco sh!t is a small portion of that. Bohemian Rhapsody didn't change the course of music history....the record execs certainly took note. The video was one of the first long drawn out affairs (for better or worse) productionwise.....they noticed the popularity of that as well.
Best Friend and We are the Champions/We Will Rock You also got tremendous top 40 airplay. Since you mentioned Sweet......I can assume you were listening as well.....

If you want to despise a really bad song of the time, why not Cliff Richards "Devil Woman"?

Beware the devil woman she's gonna get you! Okay point taken! But I still don't believe that that song needed to be made to get us were we are today in music. Even if it was necessary it should have just been left in the past to die out with those who were there, not for another generation to dig it up. At least nobody has done a cover of it yet.
