What is a Demon Deacon anyway. It sounds satanic in nature.

Pretty much

Wake Forest used to be called the "Baptists" or "Old Gold and Black" - way back in the day.
However in the 1920's, Wake Forest's athletics took a turn for the better. Up to that
point the football team had never had a winning record in the 1900's. After a new head
coach took over and they started playing well and winning. During the first winning season,
a student newspaper editor trying to describe the teams new athletic spirit described the
team as "Demon Deacons" in reference to what he said was their "devilish" play and fighting
spirit.

After that the Wake Forest news director and the coach at the time took the name and started
to use it extensively. And thus Wake Forest became Demon Deacons.

The first mascot came when a frat brother was challenged to dress as the demon deacon.
The first appearance of the Demon Deacon came in riding the North Carolina Ram.

Congrats on getting into college. I graduate on Sunday. 😀

<----took me over 6 years to work my way through.... I only have $1400 in college debt. 😉

Arguable - Although the 1995 ACC Championship is easily one of the best basketball games i have ever seen. And we know how that one turned out.
