Now I have 2!!!(well I just ordered my 2nd)

Plus they threw in Metro Last Light for free. $1020 for a free game. How nice.:p

Now I need a third...Nah. I don't think I could do it. I'll probably wait for the prices to drop before I do that.

Just think, in 4 years you could SLI a pair of $150 cards and blow these Titans away in power consumption, noise, new DX 11.2 features, probably a slight performance advantage too :p

What exactly do you play that needs 2000$ of gpu power. You better get holodeck type experiance.

You are optimistic given how the pace of CPU and GPU innovation has slowed.

More likely, 4 years from now you would have to SLI a pair of higher-end GeForce GPUs together to tie the speed of dual Titans. You'd save some wattage, but you would definitely be paying more than $150 each, more like $300 each for an upper-tier card (akin to the launch price of GTX 660 Ti). To actually "blow away" a pair of Titans (which I take to mean 1.5x speed or more), you would probably have to SLI higher-end GeForces that cost $400+ each.

Nobody is even fully using DX11.1 right now, and consoles will make sure that we don't go beyond DX11.1 in most games for a very, VERY long time.

But seriously, why can't you be HAPPY for others, come on guys....

Because some people disagree on the principle of $1000 video cards.

Looks like some people are determined to tell Nvidia and AMD this is ok.

It is ok if you have the money. Who are you to question whether its "ok" if someone else buys a video card for more money than you make in a week???

Damn...

Congrats, Wag. If I didn't have a newborn I'd be all over a Titan too!

So its "ok" for your to swear and insult people?

Nice one.

Also there are many people on this forum who disagree with $1000 video cards. It has nothing to do with Wag

Imho,

Indeed! And one has that choice to pass and not buy! Ultimately, the market decides if it is okay or not though!

Man, I just saw a Titan go on Newegg for $799.99 this morning as a Newegg Open box. Someone got a killer deal.

Some of you are unbelievable.

This is a thread that is a celebration of high-end products. This is not a "help me find the best bang-for-the-buck product" or "help me get the best for my budget" thread. Your opinions about how "wrong" a $1000 luxury product is out of place and thread crapping.

There will always be luxury products, be it video cards, watches, other accessories, cars, boats, houses/mansions, phones, headphones, speakers... you name it, there's a luxury brand for it. When people are able and willing - and happy - to purchase luxury products, it is their call and/or their blessing. They also become enablers of that part of the economy, and that's a good thing even for people who can't afford or who aren't into those luxury products, because these have incredibly high profits for the manufacturers, which in lots of cases help fund and offset that manufacturer's products and costs for the non-luxury, cutthroat market segment products.

Talk about SLI Titans, or Titan itself, the performance, possible use cases, experience, intended use, or just be happy for a fellow enthusiast, etc. But if you are here just to poo poo and demonize luxury high-end products, get out of here before you get kicked out for thread crapping. You are in the wrong thread.

And what exactly is the point of waiting 4 years to do it? If I could afford to get 2 Titans right now I sure as heck would.

haha yeah... really high end audio gear is expensive. So many ways to spend money on the perfect setup and most people wouldn't be able to actually hear the real difference because it's subtle in many cases. So many hobbies are much more expensive.

Take the hobby of being a musician. Buy a guitar and it's already over $1000 in some cases and then you need the Amp head, speakers, cables, effects pedals, maybe a PA system and speakers to do with it. Over $5,000 sitting in my garage right now(maybe more for all I know it's not all my gear) for all that stuff, then we have a drum kit which is over $10,000 once you include all the hardware and cymbols and whatnot.

People act like PC gaming, or PCs in general are some mythical and unattainable hobby that only rich people can afford. There are many more expensive hobbies. Heck I have R/C Cars that cost more than your PC. My friend builds drag cars, another is into boats and fishing stuff and probably has more money invested in that than I do in the whole house lol. Everyone is entitled to their hobby. The problem I have with the world today is people that say "you don't need to spend that much" there is no need, it's want. We all want to be rich, have nice things, and be able to live comfortable. For some that includes expensive PC hardware.

To the OP: Enjoy it. You'll have a setup that runs stuff that I will be upgrading to be able to play at high resolution/max settings lol.

I've had no luck with New Egg's open box items so I wouldn't have gone for this (unsure if you get the full warranty). Besides, I have the EVGA Superclocked model and needed a 2nd one to match.;)

Oh, and yes, I do plan on buying a 4K display sometime down the road. Only thing is of course the Titan doesn't support HDMI 2.0 (I know no card does yet), so just 30Hz @ 4K max.

i just hope u are lucky with game choices which i wasnt on.

I think my 1800 dollar investment in gpu prowess invested in tri sli, wasnt enough merit to play 90% of the games i did play in DX9 cuz it was a console port.

I hope u get enough DX11 games to merit it.
I wasnt able to get into the games which had DX11 so most the games i played were console ported DX9

Back in the day I'd spend $500+ on a video card or cards. Accounting for inflation a Titan or two is not that far out of line.

I've been a huge video card fan for years so it is neat to see someone carrying on the tradition.

So what are you going to do with such powerful cards? Have you thought about running Folding@home or BOINC on them?

i paid £350 for a 4870X2 with 2GB Vram. Dual GPU with a significant die area due to process node.

Today that card is £850 in the 7990.

Prices have gone crazy this year.

The 4870X2 was quite possibly the best buy GPU ever. AMD really screwed up ATI.

I hope the 780 GTX is a cut down Titan at £360

Back in the day I'd spend $500+ on a video card or cards. Accounting for AMD's retarded introductory pricing of the 7000 series, and Nvidia's greediness that followed, a Titan or two is not that far out of line.

Here, I fixed that for you. It wasn't inflation that suddenly turned $300 cards into $500 cards, and $700 cards into $1000 cards.

AMD 6970 - $349
AMD 7970 - $549

AMD 6990 - $699
AMD 7990 - $999

NV GF104 - $299
NV GK104 - $499

NV GF110 - $499
NV GK110 - $999

Thanks AMD! We all owe you a big high five.

Anyway, congrats OP. That's the best setup you can have right now IMO. 3-way is not worth the ROI.
