I'm in Italy, Origin wants to charge me 70 Euro's for BF4, can I pay States price?

I'm in Italy for the next several months, when BF4 comes out. I do not want to pay 70 Euro's, that's close to $95. Can I pay States price? I didn't change location on Origin, it changed itself. Steam doesn't give me this problem, I have bought a few games since here when they were on Summer sale, and I paid normal American dollars. Would it give me an issue when going back to the States if I did buy here, region or language wise?

I thought about it, I like digital though. And our shipping is horrendous here, take literally weeks. And I will be traveling to Africa multiple times back and forth to Italy. I just don't trust that I would ever get it.

Purchasing off of Amazon should have a digital option, I think they would simply provide you with the Origin code and away you go. I do not know if the code they provide you would be regionlocked however.

Another idea might be to have someone in the US log into your Origin acct and make the purchase.

Additionally, Steam does alter pricing and availability for different regions.

Aren't you getting paid in euros though?

Unless you use some type of VPN trickery, you will always pay a locality based price with digital services such as Steam and Origin. Which means you'll have to pay in Euros....

Best option I think.

No. I am in the Marine Corps, on deployment in Italy. Periodically doing missions in Africa. Just did a two week mission, have another two week one soon, followed by a 9 week mission. I get paid in American Dollars, which sucks because the Euro is much stronger. It's $137 Dollars for 100 Euro's. Guess how much the Marine Corps gives me a day to eat? $15 American dollars. I can't eat on that, but don't even get me started.

I guess I will research the Amazon option, thanks to all.

$95 for a video game? For a download? At least when they charged a Benjamin for cartridges with C4 and SFX chips in the 90's they had an excuse.

Does your base have a BX? I'd check there, because the prices should be in line with America prices.

Alternatively, you could have someone buy it states side and send you the code or even use your Origin account from a US IP to purchase it (if you trust them enough to have your password / payment info).

What you're trying to do is a gray market buy; buying from a region you are not in to obtain a cheaper price. Now, you should qualify for the US price, being from the US and only on "vacation" in Italy for awhile, but the systems in place to prevent this don't care. This issue is usually exploited by people buying cheap Russian cd keys to obtain the game in the US for cheaper than the US retail and companies don't like that.

I'd give Origin a call and tell them you are in the military, deployed outside the country, and Origin is forcing you to use the local marketplace and you want to use the US marketplace.

Go to a shop and buy the disc when it comes out, otherwise you need a vpn tunnel to US, that is what I do when I want to get access to amazon US.

One of the best uses of a VPN, in my opinion.
There's no reason to be forced into the pricing of another country when you are only staying for a while.
I doubt the people who make the game would actually have a problem with it, either, even if the ToS says otherwise.

You can get a month's subscription for a VPN for a few dollars. Well worth it, especially if you use subscription services like Netflix, too.

You can't eat on $15 a day?! wth

It's very, very hard. We have no fridge, or microwave. And if you go out, $15 is like 11 Euro. You can't order water to save money, because it's all bottled. There is no tap water when you go out. So no matter what, it costs money to drink. We can't drink the water where we live either, it's fucking hot here now, over 95 every day. We drink a lot of water, so a good portion of our eating money goes to water. We're getting fucked, but I'm pretty much used to it being in the Marine Corps. No sense even complaining about it, just gets me mad again.

I will try to find it on base, but as I said I like digital. I will try to send them an email, but I doubt they give a fuck. Hindsight is 20/20. I left the States a month ago, should have done it then. Was waiting for a better deal.

You should be able to get it damn cheap in Africa. If you are in the marines, you should have some relative still in the states to buy it for you.

What about Green Man Gaming they are in England, how many euro's do they want?

And Amazon or Green man Gaming will mention that an Origin account is required, that means you are just getting a code to put in to Origin...

If he's doing a mission in Africa, he likely won't be in a position to use his laptop or make any purchases with it. He will probably in the field, training (or doing a mission).

I think the best bet is using some type of VPN tunnel to make the purchase, or alternatively have a friend purchase it using US origin and passing the key along..

I really have nothing to add to this thread, except Semper Fi, and I thank you for your service.

England doesn't use Euros and right now 100 British Pound Sterling equals 155 dollars.

Do you have any friends in the states who can buy it and send it to you over steam as a gift? Just pay em back and you are good to go.
