I'm in college and I hate parties, loud music, people making tons of noise, etc

College is primarily for learning, having fun is secondary. So don't make tons of noise because some people have projects to do and things to study.

I'm glad I am out of here in a few weeks.

Hopefully that is not your philosophy on life...

Frankly, I'm in college to have FUN and that includes the sort of classes I take - the classes which I find most interesting.

Good luck on your projects.

Is that something to brag about?

I don't mind having fun at all. I just think people should have the courtesy to do it somewhere other than residence buildings. Just because they have nothing to do, doesn't mean I don't.

Dunno. Maybe I'm getting old. Being 26 and putting up with all these dipshit twent year olds is getting annoying.

If you need quiet, go to the library.

Well, typically people party where they live...so unless you are going to tell people not to party where they live, then...you are SOL.

I'd recommend a graduate school library (usually 24 hours) or somewhere else off-campus - coffee shop, something like that. Academic buildings or departmental libraries usually make good study locations as well.

The stuff I need to do my project is here. All the software, books, and I have room to spread out alot of papers I need.

I have called campus safety to come quiet things down if it gets out of hand. I guess I just have a different outlook on college life than most everyone else.

I'm going to have to agree with the OP. College is for learning and advancing you education, not seeing who can drink the most before passing out or who can crank their sub the loudest.

People in dormitories often forget that they are not the only ones who live there. :(

I had to call the Security Forces on base when I lived in the base dormitories because people were being too loud.

Yeah. It's taken me 6-7 years due to a few things. I graduate and start work in three weeks. That's the only thing keeping me sane.

It really has to do with the course selection you take, the department you are in, the number of courses you load up, etc. I was done all of the senior seminars I needed by the second semester of my Junior year. After that, it was time to finish easier courses and this semester although I am carrying five classes the courseload has been the easiest of ANY semester because I'm done everything.

On the other hand I know many people who are overloaded with stuff in their Senior year because, for example, their majors (premed) have oodles and oodles of requirements and prerequisites.

I've spent literally 100 hours working on my computer architecture project over the last week or so. I'm learning a lot, but this class is killing me.

Well hopefully you have some good memories of college. You only get to do it once. And even if you go back later, it's never the same.

I remeber my final year (4th) also thinking the whole partying thing was getting old. My friends told me I was just burnt out.

I'm just ready to be in my own place, work at a job I like, and be able to pay my bills.

OP, a lot of people handle the stresses of college by partying on the weekends, etc. i don't think there is anything wrong with that.

as some other people have said, that library is often open 24 hours just for this purpose. im sure they have internet access....and how hard is it to pack up a few books or save a couple things on a thumbdrive and head over there?
