"I'm here to pick up my son"

Seems they've been out of the movie making/acting business for a couple years. Wasn't their last movie that they directed/acted in was Little Man?

How the hell is that supposed to be funny?

Quoted for curiosity. How is that even remotely close to being even somewhat amusing?

Hmm, I never said it was supposed to be funny or "remotely close to being even somewhat amusing." *shrug*

Quoted for misconception. You lose, good day ma'am.

What you have here is a a play on words. See, "pick up" usually means you're going to take the person with you, but he used it in a literal sense - he picked him up, and put him back down. It's a joke about black men not being very good fathers. That point is driven home at the end, when the mother says "he's such a good father."

Ok you're right, it wasn't very funny.
