I'm heading off to college tomorrow

Tomorrow I begin my college education. I am attending the University of California Santa Barbara, aka the University of Casual Sex and Beer. I don't know what to feel right now. I'm kinda in denial that I am actually leaving. It's really weird that I am finally on my own. I welcome the change, but it's just so sudden. I'm sure I'll be okay.

Any advice or wise words for a freshman? Ahhhhhhhh. It's almost here!

1. Do bad on first 2 years.
2. Work your butt off in the last 2 years.
3. Post bunch of useless YAGTs on ATOT
4. ??????
5. Profit

Seriously:
1. Watch your spending
2. Watch your health.
3. Watch your grades.

I go to UCSB too, Comming back for my second year in sep. You'll get used to living on your own, its actually very nice

Advice...get out of your room and do anything.

Have a good time, forget about ATOT (it's incredibly useful when it comes to Grad school procrastination, however.) forget the people who play video games far too much (>4 hours a week) in college, and enjoy life. Meet friends, and you'll get the chance to travel all over the place. And remember, most people are just as nervous as you.

Bon voyage.

you thought you were on top of the world as a senior in HS... now you're a nobody. 😉 Freshmen year rules though because a lot of kids are on the same boat as you. Meet a lot of people and you will love college. I hope you're dorming. Don't forget to go to classes and pass them though. I graduated in 1999 and still wish I was there.

I just graduated from college and I envy you. Make the most of it, hang out with people every day and make an effort to do something with someone every day. It will go fast 🙁

It seems like yesterday I was in my first year. Damn time flies.

Try to do well in your classes, but also remember to have fun. I wish I was in your position. College is a lot of fun and hard work. These will be the best years of your life. At least I hope they will be. College for me sure was.

Agreed. My 1st year flew by really fast. It seems like a blur.

Life is over after college? That's kind of bleak since most people will be 22 or 23 when they graduate...

Have as much fun as you can, I am getting into a my senior year this year, (CCS, in detroit) and wish that I would have partied wwwaaayyy more in my freshmen and sophmore years instead of pulling all nighters doing homework and studying. Its tough when you first move in, but the best thing to do is meet as many new people as you can (leave your door open all the time if you live in the dorms), everyone is nervous about moving in... I wish I was a freshmen again.. dam n..

OP,

I highly recommend that you go out of your way to meet everyone the first week. Everyone is in the same boat and nervous and hoping to find some friends. Be friendly, introduce yourself. I still talk to a few of the guys that were in my freshman cooridor, and this was almost 7 years ago.

One other thing: no one cares what you did in high school. The slate is clean. Just be yourself and be open to everyone around you. You are sure to find many friends by doing just that. GOOD LUCK DUDE!!!
