I'm having problems with IPcop

I installed IPcop on an old computer and got everything working great except the internet connection.

On my linksys router my settings are as follows:
Connection type: PPTP
Wan IP address: 172.28.249.113
Subnet mask: 255.240.0.0
Gateway: 172.26.255.208

When I tried "transplanting" these settings to IPcop I couldn't figure out what to do.

I'd appreciate the help!

Is your Linksys router configured with a static or DHCP address? Are you on Cable?...DSL?...etc?

"connection type: PPTP" is rather suspect as well since PPTP is used for VPN's, not direct connections to the internet...

I'm 99% sure it's static, "Wan IP address:172.28.249.113"
I'm on cable.
Where I live PPTP is used for connection to the Internet by dsl (that is just the older modems, the newer ones connect with PPPoE), and it is used by cable for those who can't use L2TP (they just assign you a static address), and I don't see an option for L2TP in IPcop.

Cable Modem *USUALLY* just uses DHCP and binds to the mac of the device you hang off the modem. Have you tried setting it for DHCP and perhaps cloning the MAC of whatever device you had before on the IPCop Box ?

Where I live I know it doesn't do that, like I said they use L2TP
