Downloaded Service Pak 2 (266 megabytes) in under 3 minutes.

Insight.com just boosted their rates from around 3Mbit/384Kbit to 10Mbit/1Mbit. I guess competition from DSL is finally having an effect.

I have DSL at 1.5 meg. They offer 5 meg but not in my area. It looks like they will lose my business to Cable. I can get 8 Meg cable at my apartment for the same price as DSL.

Both include basic phone and Comcast says they can transfer over my phone number.

I'm sort of a pron and download junkie.
I have about 20 gigs of downloaded game mods/patches and I want more. Some of them are hundreds of megabytes so I think the switch is worthwhile to me.

Based on a quick Google conversion, light takes 54 ms to travel 10,000 miles. I believe the US is closer to 3000 miles coast-to-coast. Back when I used to game from Illinois I rarely remember getting west coast pings lower than 75 ms. There is a whole lot of processing overhead to eliminate, no?

Nope, uploads generally suck all around. Right now we are running about 3mb down and ~250 up. As another posted stated, Insight is going to be upping bandwidth to 10 down/1 up this month, so who knows how much that will effect upload speeds around here, if any.
