Im havin Win2K problems (not detecting Sound card)

Yesterday I decided to install WIN2K Professional. Before that I had Win98. Now I am having Audio problems, its not detecting my sound card and i cant play any videos or listen to MP3s. I have an HP 8660C computer. I went to HP.com and tried to install the drivers but they dont have anything listed for AUDIO. I also went to Microsoft website but nothing worked. If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated 🙂

Did you try looking for updated drivers from the manufacturer's website? What sound card do you have?

MPX is a file extension which I believe is file used by Microsoft. What sound card do you have, or do you have a motherboard with integrated sound?

Im pretty sure its integrated sound. Someone told me that the sound and phone-line are on the same card.

If I wont be able to get the sound to work with WIN2K Pro, I will try WINXP and if that dont work I guess I will have to buy a good Sound Card.

Any ideas?

<< the sound card says MPX >>

Ok

What says MPX?

You just may have compatability issues to Win2K.
esp since you have a HP that came w/ Win 98, and have integrated sound on the board.
i'd say those manufacturers want to save as much money on parts as possible, so they'll use what they can to get by with what's bundled.
I have an 3 year old Aptiva piii 500, and the modem on it won't work w/ Win 2K.
if your computer however is relatively new, you'll just have to dig up the audio drivers for Win 2K. try all the CDs that came w/ the PC.
