im havin trouble with my T.V. can anyone help..

I have been having problems with my television. on some channels i get bad reception (i see white lines goin thru my tv on specefic channels) I think the main reason is because i also have a cable modem. I have it connected thru a 2 way spliiter whch i think is causing the problem or the cable wire itself. Yesterday I bought a SONY WEGA 20" TV for $200 but it still has the same problems on specefic channels.

Anyone know of any ideas that are causing the problem

I doubt it is the splitter... especially if it only happens only on certain stations....but why not try connecting the TV without the splitter and see if you still have the problem... also there are signail amplifiers available for low cost (try radio Shack) and add one of these between the splitter and the TV. Also, yes the cable wire itself could be bad.. but again, if it only happens on certain stations i think it may be the signal from the cable comapny.

That is exactly how I have my system set up and I have no such problems. I dont have a high-end TV just a 27" RCA, a 3Com US Robotics cable modem, a 1Ghz spliter, and a motorolla Digi Cable box but it was the same on the Non-digi Scientific Atlanta box.

It's your cable reception. Ask your cable company if they can come and test the signal and boost it if necessary. They do not charge for this service.

I had same problem with my 13" TV/VCR combo a little while ago. The problem was in tuner.

The slowass repair place took two months to repair and cost $120. This TV was already four years old. I should have just bought a new one.

I am by no means a cable television expert, but I had a similar problem myself and some people here recommended that I replace the line going into my room and that fixed the problem. I was getting terrible reception on my lower channels (mostly the local stuff) and no matter what components I replaced I still had crappy reception (it turns out my signal was too weak). Finally I got fed up with it and I just ran a new cable line into my room and the problem was solved.

Maybe you could try and replace your line too?

I had the same problem for awhile. Called timewarner up. Sent out Hussein, and he hoooked me up with a maspro CATV DROP AMPLIFER a normal splitter looses signal strength on any given output. With this i gain =8 db on each output. hehe Just plug it in. BTW i payed em off $20 for another 10. I hookep em all up around the house. And with Road Runner i get an extra 75k download speed, 45 upstream. Wow its great

the only channels im havin problems with are Channels 5, 25-40. I have tried different cable lines but still got the same problem. Can someone tell me what the purpose of a Monster Cable is and do u think it would work.

I was actually gonna post this exact same question today!

The problem only happens on one of our 4 hooked up TVs, and only with channels 65 and above. This particular tv is split with another TV, but that doesn't have the problem. I guess I'll replace that cable line.

The first thing to do is call your cable company and let them check out the signal strength at each of your outlets. I know with my CC that it is part of the service I am paying and a service call of that sort is free. If the signal is too weak it will not matter what kind of cable you use you will still get a bad picture.

Monster is overpriced in my opinion and will not make a noticable difference from a good RG-6.

Cougar, I remember that thread. I think I was one of those that was telling you to replace the cable. Glad it worked for you.

I am STILL having problems with my T.V. I tried a different splitter and still the same problem, so then i tried to replace the cable wire from the T.V. and the same problem. So I just got back from RadioShack and bought a Signal Amplifier hooked everything up and put the dial on the amp for the signal all the way up to 26db and it make a very slight change. It still had the lines which are very noticeable. So my next step would probably be to call my Cable Company and see if they can send someone to fix the problem. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix it plz tell me before I call someone over. Thanks
