jesus i thought i was a fatty...

5'10, 180lbs...

IMO, this is the perfect weight. I'm a few inches shorter than you and about 130lb according to my bathroom scale and I'm extremely underweight. If I lifted some weights and were at least average strength, that would bring me up to maybe 150. Grow a few inches and I would be 180.

At 5'10" tall, 180 is really close to the edge of overweight, so that's good. If you were in the "normal" range like I am, then you would be way too thin.

In case anyone cares, my being "normal" (underweight) is caused by medical problems. Medical problems should not be considered normal. You should at least be "overweight" on the BMI scale.

5'11, 260 lbs.

i'm not happy with my weight. in fact, i'm extremely unhappy to the point that it brings me to depression.

fat people who "are happy with their weight" need to be brought back to reality.

while i'm probably way overly self-critical, being fat is not something to be proud of, be happy about, be content with, or encourage.

i'm trying to do something about it. but i've been trying to do something about it off and on since 14. (i'm 24 now.)

I tell all males the same thing. Suck it up and go to the gym. Males are not meant to be obese, it is against our genetics. Building muscle and shedding fat is natural. For women, it's a bit different.

Anyway, for overweight men, it's either personal choice or personal weakness. Some people actually desire the look or are ambivalent. For those who dislike being overweight, well that's just weakness.

It used to be that being fat was a good virtue. You worked hard to afford plenty of tasty foods. Only a few people could afford to be fat. Now people who hardly work are fat.

Only applies to first-world nations. Reminds me of something I heard on NPR, to paraphrase;

DJ: Even with the U.S. in one of the worse depressions in it history, do you think the idea of coming to the United States, to find a better life, to find a better life, is still a legitimate?
Guy - I think it was an Indian-American Author/Immigrant: Yes
DJ:Why is that?
Guy:Because here, even the unemployed are fat.

Fatties justifying their fatness. They aren't happy. They just say stupid shit like that to make people think that they have accepted their disgusting fat body and are happy with it. Fatties lie even to themselves. This just shows that all fatties are worthless and disgusting. Everyone knows this.

What about the chubbies who slimmed down considerably from natural motivation w/ fitness and look pretty hot? Does your perception change towards them or are they still fatties in the eyes of the beholder?

Fool. A fatty trying to lose weight is obviously not happy with it's body, and would therefore never say anything so foolish as "I'm happy with how my body is". While it is admirable that this creature is trying to lose weight, that still does not change the fact that they are still fat and disgusting. Everyone knows this.

He's talking past tense. They have already lost the weight. What do you think of skinny people who used to be fatties.

My perception of them is the same as a normal person. No more, no less. Basically, by losing weight they have chosen to become a normal human being instead of a disgusting waste of space. Now they have to make something of themselves, or continue to wallow in mediocrity. Everyone knows this.

You know, many think that TFP is this big troll but I agree with this statement. His/your words may be a little too blunt but in all reality this is true. These are the exact words I was thinking.
Everyone knows this.

I'm skinny. I'm also somewhat scrawny. "I'm happy with how my body is." I'd like it more if I was stronger, but I'm happy the way I am now.

Everybody has their own set of desires. If they are happy with what they have, then kudos to them. If they are lying to themselves, that is sad.

Maybe they just don't fucking care about meeting someone else's standard of the ideal body?

Absolutely.

Also, people seem to think that people that are a bit bigger are completely insecure about their body. I was 6'2 and 240lbs at one point. I was pretty chubby. Was I insecure about it? Not in the least. I didn't give a shit. I had girlfriends that liked me. I didn't have ot lose weight to impress anyone.

I'm almost 6'4 and am about 205lbs. I feel exactly the same way about myself now than I did then. My partner isn't the skinniest girl, but I certainly think she's incredibly attractive. She too, is happy with who she is. In fact, if she became super skinny I certainly wouldn't find her anywhere near as attractive as she is now.

You media-gobbling drones are so obsessed with what designers find attractive you really miss out on what's actually beautiful.

If an alternate reality where I can be happy is where I am, then there I shall stay.

You actually should try going outside instead of staying in your parents basement all the time.6' 320 lbs is disgustingly fat, especially for a teenager not to mention extremely unhealthy.

And the person is overweight. Do you think that means they have given up trying to lose weight? I'm the type of person that is always looking for ways to improve so when I hear something like that it makes me think.

Thoughts?
If the overweight person saying that has a job, isn't on welfare, has their own medical benefits, etc., then so what? I would be offended if they were unemployed, on welfare, and relying on society to cover the medical needs.
