Yes that's right...I'm going to embark on an adventure so stupid, so ignorant.... I'm going to go on a backpacking trip. I think we're going to hike to the top of Springer Mountain today and then keep on trucking until it gets dark....I just have to get my group together. 😉 It's going to be cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey!
 
you don't have a campsite planned? just gonna sleep in some random place? thats not good...

I know the area well and don't like to plan that much. As far as the AT...I hike up there a few times a year and usually start at different places. There are quite a few clearings and places to camp. I can setup camp in a 7X7 clearing. I could clear that much brush myself in 5 minutes. As far as my 'group', I want them to learn how to quit whining and rough it. These are all n00bs to backpacking. I'm going to take them on a 30 mile trip (total).

Nope....I'm going to give her a call today and try to hook something up for tomorrow when I return. She's not really a bar-whench. She's a server. I just happen to go there quite frequently because I live about 5 blocks away.

Ah, OK. Make sure you call her though! It's not all that often that server-type women that get hit on 24/7 give out their numbers...she wants you...I can sense tit...er, it. 😀
 
Tke the approach trail. I have heard that a bear has been causing problems at the Springer mountain shelter. How about camping at Justice Creek.

I'm back!!! I did the approach trail and ended up camping about a mile from the main shelter. We got up there and ended up running out of daylight since we got a late start. It was about 5:45 when we made camp. The temp dropped to around 33-35 degrees last night and it started raining. I'm just happy that I have a good tent and an even better sleeping bag. 😀
