BAAAAH!!!!!!

I got my new computer yesterday, it's in my sig...

Anyway, the CPU fan works on 5000RPM for 2 minutes and then falls to 1400RPM, the temperature rises to 70c and the mobo starts beeping, bah.
So I put there two more normal home fans to keep the temperature on 60c. And only when i'm in Windows, I can't play any good games for more than 3 minutes becauase of the overheat.

So tommorow I'll bring the computer to the store to replace the fan and add another one.

Btw, what is normal temperature for the Athlon 1.33?

------

The SBLive. :frown:
I installed the drivers... restarted and got BSOD.
Went to safe mode, disabled the SBLive, and everything works fine. Back in normal mode, enabled SBLive again... BSOD.
I use the drivers that came with the came, from some reason when I go to the creative site I get some Microsoft Database problem so I cant download the new ones... Anyway, I doubt that this is because the drivers.

--------

They gave me some crappy Motorola 56k modem. I wont use it much because I get ADSL soon.
So after installing the modem, and the connection I try to connect and it says that it can't comunnicate with the modem or something.
I go to control panel->modems->diagnostics tab... and it says that Com1 is already open. Go figure.

Anyway... HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP! :(

Sounds like you only have 2 problems.

1) HSF fan is flakey.
2) ASCPI is not enabled in the bios. I would recommend enabling it, and reinstalling. It will take care of all your IRQ problems (Personally I dont like ASCPI, but if you are confused by IRQs and such, let windows2k do it for you, 99% of the time it does an adequete job).

May I ask where you bought this from?

ASUS A7A266 ..hmmm... You did read the user manual( remove the SB Live card until you get your basic...CPU/Mobo, memory, HD, video card.... up and running with stability then add it in to determine if it causes conflicts) Hope someone with this Motherboard rollss thru this thread with more insight( I hate ASUS :disgust: fairly lousy tech support). <edit> You paid a comp store to put this together or you assembled it...if a store ..haul it back if you assembled ...do a Search on this Site on your Mobo and also a Search here on Anandtech in all the site.

I didnt built the computer by myself.

But there were no problems(with the sound) until I installed the SBLive drivers.

AMD is fine, thousands and thousands of people have stable systems based on AMD cpus.

Don't run this computer till you get that fan fixed. Overheating the cpu WILL make it flakey.

I'm not impressed at all with the store that built/sold this computer, they obviously didn't set it up right. You could spend a lot of time and energy trying to figure out what they did wrong. Rather, I would focus my energy on getting them to take it back and straighten it out once and for all. Adding a SB Live! (or any soundcard) is not anything exotic that cause a computer to flake out like this.

The problem is that a fried bought EXACTLY the same system like I did, and he doesnt have these problems!

The CPU fan works fine for him but this doesnt enough for games, so he also get a better fan.
But none of these modem and SBLive problems!

Can you take the computer back to the store you bought it from? What kind of warranty do you have on it? If the problems are due to a bad fan, the store owes you a new fan..

I was going to suggest we look at your irq list but as the pc was built for you & isn't working correctly so soon after delivery, then as someone said before, take it back & let your vendor sort it out!

I fixed the SBLive problem.

It took me one reinstall of windows to figure out that the Emulation is the problem, another reinstall to understand how to solve it and a third reinstall to actually fix it. :D

Then I underclocked the computer to 1Ghz and played B&W for an hour or so with my fans, all works fine.

Anyway, I returned it to the store today... I'll probably get it back by tommorow morning.
The problem is that in Israel 95% of the market buys Intel, so the idiots in the store probably gave me some HSF that works good for P4, and the Athlons run hotter... :|
