I'm going to try to get the credit card companies to fight each another for my business...

Here's my plan:

I have a little bit of outstanding debt spread over two cards. I have one card that has a zero balance, and they recently sent me an offer in the mail offering a 5.9% interest rate on balance transfers until the amount transferred is paid off.

Anyways, I was going to call the 2 CC companies that I currently hold the balance with (MBNA and Amex) and see if they can beat the 5.9% and state that i'll transfer the balance elsewhere if they can't beat the 5.9% rate offered by the third empty card.

Think it will work? Has anyone here ever pulled this off?

Citibank just sent me an offer for 0% for a year and 7.9% fixed thereafter.

Go for it.

Hmmm. Citibank is who the third empty card is from. Maybe I should call them and see if they'll go for the 0% for a year.

If they give me 0% for a year, the balance will be gone before the 0% offer expires. I wonder if the offers are the same between the US and Canada?

Anyone else have advice?

I'm going to go toe to toe with the CC companies at 7:00pm EST!
