99% of all Windows XP problems are hardware/driver related. I suspect this thread belongs in technical support forum with your system specs.

i'd say drivers or overheating. is the fan clogged or not working?

I threw a Dell across the room once in frustration. Shattered the LCD, but the rest works fine. 😕

It's overheating. Make sure the fan/heatsink isn't clogged with stuff.
