Our timer fan switch in the bathroom broke, it won't turn off after a pre-set time, so I'm going to replace it :D :D :D

Should I ask the landlord first?

You should let the funeral parlor know as well. Might get a better rate if you have reservations.

Turn off the power to your apartment or to the bathroom and check the wires with a voltmeter before touching them.

I would inform him first what you intend to do, and if it is because something broke, I would ask to get reimbursed for it. Do not ask to have it deducted from the rent though. Most landlords I have dealt with do not like to take anything out of the rent.

Just my own .02

It will help if you make a small puddle of water on the floor and stand your aluminum ladder in that puddle, dont forget to remove the rubber feet from the bottom of the ladder.

yeah, one of my roommates noticed it right away, I thought everyone would take a year to notice (their lights are on, but noone's home 1/2 the time!)
