Once i move to vermont, im leaving the legal field and will go through and become a certifed peace officer and try to work for some municipality or other gov agency somewhere as apolice officer with thebintention of being a detective some day.

Im sick of my cubed walls and working for attys, being a paralegal sucks but its better than being unemployed right now with a degree in flipping burgers.

Would also look into fire/emt training as well. I dont know why i didnt focuson that before. :(

28 is starting to sound really old

Good luck - whereabouts in VT?

Maybe around burlington area, not 100% sure though but tye moving prospects will commencein 2012 with selling our current home andthen moving to a temporary apt while new jobs and environment is researched and pursued

I absolutely do not want to go through trying to close on new property with pending sale of our own, pluswecan liquidate alot of unnecessary items to make the move easier.

I justwant to live in a mountain/hill environment that is relatively rural

You in MO? I completely understand...I've been in St. Louis now for almost 2 years and I'm dying to get to the mtns or the beach...looks like it will be the beach...but it can't come sooner.

Yep! Funny we think the ozark hills here are mountains, you get a dose of reality when u see real mountains.:)

Mainly moving though because we haveno ties here, all friendshavemoved away, just some family left is all. Otherwise stlouis is not a badplaceat all to live, just can be boring as fuck!

I don't think I've ever talked to a paralegal who liked their work. Also, the pay seems rather low.

Might want to have your spacebar looked at.

I don't think VT is going to be any more exciting than St Louis. Though being a police officer carrys a certain amount of excitement.

Its scary but risk is part of life, or should be.

I started the career change process at about 30. Still going 4 years later and have 4 years to go! It often seems interminable, but keep plugging away to get where you want to be. Nothing is stopping you but you.

It takes a while and a process to get into LEO or EMT or fire positions.... be aware of this before you make the decision.

Oh oh! Can I come with you?

Not to worry. I'm in the same boat. I'm an attorney who doesn't really enjoy practicing law. I'm working on becoming a professor though. Just got my first teaching gig actually. $4000 smackers for a 2 credit class. I'm gonna use it all on lotto tickets.

What about border patrol? Gotta keep those Canucks out of here.

ICE (immigration customs enforcement) is a good gig if you can get it. Let me know if you are interested in that route. I have lots of contacts in DHS.

Yeah. Where my home is in SC, decent mtns are an 0.5-1 hour away with lots of beautiful lakes and the beach only 3 hours away. Here in St. Louis...I feel like I'm stuck in the city. Everything is at least 4 hours away...and to get somewhere you really want to go, it's a day trip or flight. Sucks. The people are nice, and city isn't bad...but I feel very land locked with not much interesting around.

Wasn't my first choice, but it looks like Ft. Lauderdale in November...looking forward to the beach...will still miss the mtns.
