I knew it.
Good. You win. Now stop sending me all those pics of yourself already. Sheesh. :frown:

Just be thankful I bought that macro lens to help you out.

Sadly, I don't know which end you are referring to. Both seemed to be in equilibrium.

Beau just plays mormon so his wife will...er...you know.....*nudge*nudge*

😀

a whole day without food...i find myself feeling tired and crappy after 12 hours of no food. then my body wants to go to sleep.../me keeps on rambling

What sux for me is that I came down with the Flu yesterday.

I will be fasting while sick as a dog.

anyway....YOM TOV !

that reminds me of a story.... my HS English teacher was muslim, and he has to fast for a month(or a week, don't remember). Anyways, the class was right after lunch, and this one kid always brought his lunch into the classroom and started eating. That just KILLED my teacher because he was hungry as hell, and sometimes he got distracted and couldn't teach because the smell of cheap chinese food just filled up the entire classroom.

Ok I just got back from Fuddruckers... I figure... if I'm gonna starve for 24 hours... I might as well eat well first... 2/3 pound Portabella and swiss burger, large onion rings, and a Corona... damn good eatin.

Reasoning behind Yom Kippur:

It's the day of atonement... the holiest of all holy days... I'll be praying my tuchas off all night tonight and all day tommorow, to make up for all the bad stuff I did all year.

Yes I am a big panzy🙂

But what is ATOT good for, if not bitching about things we have noone to blame for but ourselves? 😉

And for you atheists... I believe very firmly in gd.. this is an important holiday for me.
But I'll bitch anyway... and you guys can feel free to flame away
-Max😛

switch to Catholic, they let you eat while you're making up for the bad stuff you did

Update: I survived... the last couple hours I thought my stomach was going to implode... And then I made a big mistake. Downed a 32oz beer... I've been recovering from that for the last 4 hours... grrrrr

for you doubters... give it a shot... try fasting for 24 hours.. much much harder than you might expect.

The Shul I went to this time I wasn't too happy with... when I went to Chabad a few years back, that was MUCH better... Yom Kippur's a holiday that is just better if you go all out.

I spent all day in the same synagogue that I've been going to for the last 20 years. Chabad is not really my cup of tea, but if it works for you, cool.

I went to a conservative one... but it seemed more like reform to me... way too much english, egalitarian(which I prefer), and all the super fem-jew talit/kippa wearing women... Which I just find so upsetting for some reason....

I can certainly understand why you found the experience... lacking. Conservative and Reform are sad excuses for authentic Judaism.

It's a very frustrating state of affairs... I love the more traditional judaism.. but I also need to balance it with the demands of my life. I'm feeling very stuck between a rock and a hard place. On the one hand I have the lame watered down conservative/reform... and on the other hand I have the impossible to follow Orthodox...

Really genuinely has me upset this year.

Question to the Jewish:

What do diabetic Jews do on this day? Sure most people will be fine, but for some people not eating for 24 hours can be almost incapacitating. Are they expected to fully comply with the rules too?

Just wondering.

If an illness requires that you eat... then you eat. Simple as that.

If someone has a lifethreatening condition they can eat. There are certain ways they eat though, a little bit at a time...
