I'm going to be on television!

CTV doing a news segment on the predatory nature of hot water heater rental contracts and how it's hard to get out of them. They're going around interviewing people in various contracts. They came to talk to me just about the general nature of it as they are asking various people their experience. They asked if they can come do an actual interview some time.

Kinda nervous but also kinda cool to know I'll be on TV. 😛 Though I don't know how it works, they might interview a bunch of people then only show a few.

When did Canada get TV? I live in fear of the day you people get internet too.

My workplace installed a new array of 24 US robotics modems the other day, I hear we have about 30 people with internet now.

I didn't even know water heater contracts even existed.

I'm leaving this thread a little bit wiser to the world. Now time to investigate predatory toilet rental contracts. 😛

Yeah it's an odd thing, most people rent their water heaters, but it makes no sense to rent, it's just that when you buy a house it's normally part of the purchase. There's also lot of door to door people that try to sell furnace and A/C rentals now too. Lot of people get screwed by it. I need to bite the bullet and try to break out of mine, but it's like over $900.

In my experience, you'll either get a sound bite or two, they'll show you in a transition shot, or they wont use it at all. News shows take tons of footage and edit it immensely. Hopefully we'll get to see you ranting about contracts.

A person just has to ensure they stand out the most among all the people being interviewed.

See: Antoine Dodson or the "Strut that ass" guy. 😛

The crazed look is strong with this one.

#1 People rent hot water heaters?

Be sure to give a shoutout to your favorite ATOT posters! Wut wuttttttttttt.
A "Yes ATOT, this is my water heater" sign should do nicely. Except that it isn't your water heater because you rented it. I've never heard of water heater rentals before. Seems like a low end appliance to be renting. Also, is your water heater in your basement? Footage of walking past your server rack would be worth all the humiliation of being on TV.

rental units are great because they will replace the water heater if it fails. And you know it will eventually fail. 😳

Some energy companies sell water heater contracts for that service. I am sure the same thing happens in the States, too.

This. you've got to make yourself "interesting" if you want to be used in a TV spot. be...informative and useful to the subject, but also say/show/present some crazy ass shit that will get you some air time.

Be creative. do a little research. maybe check out Sweet Brown before or after Dobson.

lol, I never saw this follow-up interview with Sweet, during the height of her moment. She's awesome, hahaha. (the full original news clip opens it up)
