tommorows my birthday, and im going to take the day off and fish for pike.
theres a good lake i pulled three out in the last week and a half.all were on the smallish size but trophy size specimens have been taken from that lake.

i have steel leaders, the lake is shallow and has a ton of cover(mostly weeds), so crankbaits and jigs are kind tough except for out in the center channel.
i really want to target large pike, any lure suggestions?

Storm thunderstick, I can't remember the exact color but it's sort of a reflective peach/orange color. Meant to look like a perch.

It's color 183 Prizmflash Gold Shiner. I've seen these really pull in the Pike. I think it was a thunderstick jr., just a bit smaller than a regular storm thunderstick.

I prefer to use shallow-running plugs such as the Injured Minnow, Chugger, Spook, and Floating Rapala.

the floating rapala is another one i have to repick-up. i remember having a longer silver black floater that used to work really well for smallmouth.

Can't help much here. Other than snapper comments.

When I fished pike it was up in Canada a long time ago. Those suckers get BIG. I think the one on my wall is 14 pounds. Their teeth are insane.

yes i would love getting one north of ten lbs, i guess we will see, the bass action has been big hit or big miss lately,i really want to crank it up before the water freezes over.

yeah, that's what I'm talking about. And they have rows and rows of them on the top/bottom of their mouth.

Pike like noisy, flashy things. try a buzzbait or a spinner. IF you can find a dropoff. Fish from the shore-side-> out, over the dropoff.

Yup Large fish large lures.
Doesn't really matter much which type if they are in the mood, colour choice can matter though if you don't get any type of action on a colour move on to something else.
Pike are looking for a big meal before the water temp goes down and their metabolism slows down.

Weedless spoon, any color.

Yellow or green Erie Dearie (sp?).

Largest Pike I've caught is 36" up on Lake Nipissing.
