These things have nothing to do with driving. I suggest you worry more about actually controlling the vehicle and less about how pretty it smells.

yeap worry about haveing the car up to date.

the test itself is not hard. just study the book and its good to go.

I got it August 14th last year. Pretty easy. Though, I do live in Maine, so there isn't exactly many cars around to distract me.

Just take it slow, and don't get nervous. Talking to your instructor is always good. I got mine so off the topic of my driving, that he completely stopped paying attention to what I was doing. We were just talking about sports and what-not.

The only hard part is parrallel parking. Good thing you only have to do it behind one car (not in between two). So remember to use all the space you are given, because you can.

Look down all cross streets as you pass by (at least glance) even if you're not going to turn into it. My friend was dinged for not 'inspecting for potential cross traffic.' It was an automatic fail. Really stupid because none of the streets had cars approaching. Good luck and come back with good news.

watchout for these things:

- blind intersections, 20mph!
- when turning right, have to cover the bike lane... otherwise they can fail you
- dont drive too fast.. signal before doing any turns.
- when they ask you to back up, put ur right hand on the back of the passenger's front seat

Congrats. Just take it easy the first month. Even though you passed doesn't mean you can drive. I remember my first month on the road was a learning experience. I learned more in that period than in driver's ed. Again congrats, but be careful.
