im getting white pages, timeouts, you name it

Yeah, I was using Waterfox 35.0, opened a few new tabs, they were just white pages, clicked reload, no help. Closed them, went back to my main AT forum page, reloaded, then I got a white page. Exited and re-loaded the browser, still white page. I downloaded Waterfox 36.0.4, uninstalled 35.0, installed 36.0.4, and re-loaded AT forums, and they're back.
 
No thankfully I havent ever got them here

Elixer, did this work for you previously? Was it stuck loading? Did a page refresh help? Any additional details you can provide would be helpful. 🙂

Did a refresh a few times and it didn't help. I then gave up, went to another forum section, and it worked then.
It also was random, it wasn't on every reply.
If it happens again, I'll launch firebug, and get you more info...
 
Much obliged. Any further information could be helpful. I'm also wondering if it might just be a cache thing. Maybe clearing the cache might help? (It's my go-to after big updates.)
 
Ugh, nobody likes complainers. But the only strange behavior I have ever noted from these forums started after the most recent extended downtime. Basically it seems as if my first request to the server is not replied to in a timely fashion, for instance, twice, after posting a comment and being faced with a non-responsive browser, I hit the stop button and browsed with a new tab to find my comment had posted while my original browser tab remained non-responsive.

P.S. I just experienced the behavior described above when making this post. Something is wrong somewhere. Chrome 41.0.2272.101 (if it matters).

P.P.S. I am definitely having a hard time getting the forum servers to respond to my requests. Plus another double post which was not prompted by any excessive clicking or noob behavior on my my part, it just kinda did it while I relaxed and watched...

Been getting lots of Bad Request errors. Just deleted all my Anandtech cookies and things loaded right away.

Using FF 37.0
 
Just got 8 in a row and the forums weren't loading on Firefox.

Had to switch to Chrome and it's working again, for now.
 
Could this be the cookie-size bug? I recall in previous times, there was an issue with these forums, and certain browsers, and the cookie info that keeps track of read threads, just keeps getting bigger, and above a certain size, it causes the pages to not load / server response error.
 
just got a white screen earlier, and attempting to load the last page of a 6-page thread, it never finished loading, it was loading like one post every 30 seconds or so.
 
Hmm, I just had three thread page loads hang, and so did this reply. It was hanging on the reply box, it didn't show up. I finally re-loaded one of the threads, and then the rest of the threads, including this reply post, showed up.

I'm on a wired LAN, on 75/75 FIOS.
 
Yeah, tried that earlier tonight, when it was happening again. After logging in, it wouldn't re-load the main forums index page. I had to stop the login page from loading, stop all of my other hung page loads from AT forums, and then re-load the login page.

And now it just did it again, page gets hung, right after displaying "Post Reply", but the quick reply box doesn't come up.
 
2nd time in the last few weeks I have had to clear my Cookies. So what's up? Is this issue being worked on or what?
 
I usually get the white page in my mobile browser from this sequence of events:

  • From mobile Safari, use the "Request Desktop Site" option.
  • Make a post in a thread.
  • Leave the mobile Safari browser and use another app.
  • Return to mobile Safari.
  • A white page appears.
  • Reloading doesn't help. Tapping in the address bar and tapping Go doesn't help. Requesting desktop site again doesn't help.

I *do* think it's related to the mobile site thing because, if the AT page was a forum index or my subscriptions, Safari simply loads the mobile version of the last page I was on (forgetting my "request desktop site" preference).

I think it only happens after I've made a post. I'll try to copy the URL sometime.
