OK so I called UPS and they said they cannot halt the shipment. Oh my God what a joke. They told me to call tomorrow morning at 7:30am (the day it is supposed to be delivered) and see if they can track the shipment when it gets placed on the truck and they might be able to return it to the sender. What a joke, I can't believe this.

Ummm... I would call UPS again...

If you go to the Hot Deals forum you will see a thread explaining that it EXACTLY what Newegg did. They screwed up a price on a monitor and ppl bought them.. they were out for shipment and were recalled to returned to newegg.

Except Newegg uses FedEx instead of UPS. Also since Newegg does so much business with FedEx, it means FedEx would be much more likely to halt shipment on a bunch of Newegg's packages than UPS would for a one-time shipper.

Hopefully the OP is able to get this resolved.

story sure doesn't add up... first you say the buyer already has the package and then later reveal it won't arrive until thursday and then the reluctancy to just recall the shipment because you want the deal to pull through even though many others (even paypal/ebay) are telling you that you won't receive the money?

It does add up, PayPal just doesn't use Euclidian theory.

Seriously, PayPal can take your $$$ on a whim, exactly as he stated. I've been smoked by 'em before too.

Yea I know about the Paypal policies and how they suck.org. Just a little skeptical on the OP's story since he says the package was in the hands of the buyer
It's now been two days and nothing has happened. The user has the item and will likely get the payment back all because he said that he didn't make the purchase, even though he was communicating with me through email, the same email address on his Ebay account.

and his reluctancy to just recall the package when everyone was advising him to avoid any further losses.

When I said "the user has the item" I was meaning that I already shipped it to him, and as far as I knew I couldn't stop the shipment. I called UPS again this morning and explained the whole situation and they contacted the driver and requested that the package be returned to sender. Ebay/Paypal emailed me this morning and said they are refunding the money to the buyer.

So whatever, I'm getting the item back minus my $10 for shipping. I'm never selling on Ebay again and I'm never using Paypal again.

Good to hear. At least you learned your lesson cheap. I'd still inform the guy that you'll be calling his local police. Let that piece of trash sweat for awhile

Ah, sh!t! You got me worried now. I'm selling something on eBay right now too for about $300. I have never heard of stories like this, and usually accept exclusively paypal. :( What are some good options other than PayPal?

If your auction is already running and it is stated in there that you accept paypal.. there is not a lot you can do. You cannot refuse to take PayPal adfter the auction is over, if it says you do accept PayPal. You could end the auction and relist without the paypal option but.. nah.

I think someone probably posted this link somewhere in the thread, but if not:

That's why PayPal has a Seller Protection Policy, you have to follow it to be protected against buyers who scam you. Doesn't anyone read the user agreement?
